October 21. 1964 William Penn PAGE 3 MOTOR CITY NEWS BRANCH 18 — DETROIT, MICHIGAN The BIG DECISION has been made — the National William Penn Bowling Tournament and Fellowship Days will be held in Detroit in 1965! Already local branch officers and bowlers are planning how best to accommodate the hundred of visitors who will be pouring into our dynamic metropolis. Unofficially, but probably it will be Thunderbowl Lanes in Allen Park, with its 74 lanes, snack bars, quickie bars, arena, the concourse, as the locale of the tournament. The Statler-Hilton will probably be the official hotel for our visitors, and the Victory Dance, which should be one of the largest in recent years. As time goes on, more and more information about the interestinghigh lights of this vast metropolitan area will be given to the readers. WELCOME! BOWLERS AND GUESTS TO DETROIT IN 1965. * * * WILLIAM PENN SPORTS CLUB MIXED LEAGUE has expanded to 10 teams, bowling at Moose Lanes in Dearborn. Interest in this William Penn Mixed League has been tremendous, bowling on alternate Saturday nights at 7:30 p. m. At this time, any William Penn business man who would like to sponsor one of these teams is cordially invited to contact the officers of the league. Sponsorship is minimal, 4 shirts and $10.00 entry fee. There may be several good prospects for new members among the few non-members bowling in this league, so we invite Division Managers Steve Úsztok and Andrew Vince, and District Manager Edward Darocy, to visit on bowling nights. * * * LADIES’ AUXILIARY will go on their Mystery Trip on November 12. Please contact Secretary Elvira László for further information — Luzon 1-2356, after 6 p. m. A fourth edition of the Auxiliary cook book, “Hungarian Treasures,” is just about to come off the presses.
