PAGE 6 August 21, 1963 Branch High Lights (Continued from page 5) Freedom Means to Me”. This contest provided Olga Gacsi with an opportunity to express her thoughts in a winning essay on the significance of democracy. Olga became a naturalized citizen in 1962. The script expressed her feelings and thoughts during the oath ceremony as — “the fullness of my joy was lessened only by the awareness of my relatives in Hungary who couldn’t share my joy. Freedom means being free and yet belonging, being able to fly like a bird, but never losing sight Of the safe landing place.” We wish to extend our congratulations to Olga and hope for her continued success. Eugene Fintor has received word of the death of his sister-in-law, the widow Mrs. Alexander Gacsaly, age 73. Eugene Fintor Reporter YOUR HEALTH What does the first meal of the day mean ? Literally, breakfast means breaking the fast. For eight or more hours as a rule, the body has been without nourishment, and The blood has been depleted of materials needed for a wellfunctioning mind and body. Breakfast is often slighted. A hurried cup of coffee and a slice of toast or a roll constitutes breakfast for many workers. This is not enough. Breakfast actually is an important part of the day’s three meals. Careful studies have shown that with a good breakfast a person works better, thinks clearer ,and has steadier nerves. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE INVENTOR America’s first bathtub was built in Cincinnati in 1842. Constructed of mahogany, lined with sheet lead, it was exhibited at a Christmas party. The next day the local newspapers denounced it as a luxurious and democratic vanity.” Doctors warned that the bathtub would be “a menace to health.” The next year, in 1843, Philadelphia undertook by public ordinance to prohibit bathing between November 1 and March 15. Two years later Boston made bathing unlawful except when prescribed by a physician.
