CHER Tournament Administrator Pennsylvania Deputy Commissioner Resigns Many of us were closely Associated with the Hen. Thomas R. Balaban, 1st Deputy Commissioner of Insurance for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania since 1955. Mr. Balaban was a real fraternalist and attended many conventions of the various Societies, was always present at the Pa. State Fraternal Congress meetings and was always willing to plug the efforts of fraternalists. It is with regret that we now hear that Thomas R. Balaban has resigned his office and will return to active practice of law, opening offices at 223 No. Front St., Harrisburg, Pa. We trust Mr. Balaban will continue to remain friends with the Fraternals, we also wish him success in the resumption of his ; law practice. FELLOWSHIP DAYS NEARING (Continued From Page 2) Dancing will continue until 1 A.M. The Team Event winners will be announced during the Dance. All William Penn members, young and old, from near and far should be present to participate in the 20TH ANNUAL FELLOWSHIP DAYS. Forget your every day problems, come and join your fellow members in a week-end of unforgetable memories. Bring your children too. Mrs. Frank Cher a member of the Ladies Auxiliary has made arrangements to take all of the over age 6 children of bowlers on a sightseeing tour of New York while their parents bowl. The New York arrangements Committee will have an information booth staffed in the Hotel. Director Ibos has stated that the Committee has only one thought in mind, provide each participant two unforgettable days in New York. BRANCH BRIEFS (Continued from Page 3) served and music will be furnished by Steve Matey and his* Hungarian orchestra. Members and friends of the William Penn Fraternal Association are cordially invited to attend. John Fodor, Mgr. Br. 216. oop McKeesport uu\j Pennsylvania With the bowling Tournament just around the corner the enthusiasm has reached a fever pitch. The western migration will look like small potatoes when we start mov- j ing into New York City. We are sending five teams which is half of our league and hope to return as conquering heroes. Plans are being made to go by chartered Greyhound and at last count we have about twelve seats vacant. Anyone interested in these vacancies and would desire to ride with us please call Paul Hope, our league president at 672-4310 in McKeesport. The round trip will cost approximately $13.00 if wre can fill these seats. Last month we introduced our officers so each succeeding month I will try to bring some Branch highlights to you. First, to make everyone more branch conscious and second, to show everyone that Branch 226 has many things to be proud of. To start with I give you the name of members Joseph Mondák, Suntrana Mining Co., Fairbanks, Alaska. I’m not certain but I think out of the entire William Penn membership we have the only member from the 49th state. Mr. Mondák is not just a recent transplant either. He has lived in Alaska for many years. About two years ago Mr. Mondák in his normal fashion sent a semiannual premium to me. The following month he sent another semiannual premium. This of course was very strange and confusing until I read the note he had enclosed. He stated in his note that there was a great (rain robbery. Mail sacks were stolen and torn apart, coaches were destroyed and looted, and since there was no way of knowing whether his letter was on that train or not he sent me another one just in case. I relate this since here we have a recent incident (hat normally would have happened about 100 years ago out in the old west. It sort of makes your mind wonder and in this day and age I never expected to hear that Jesse James was back in business. Our 3rd Annual Tri-State Tournament is moving along in fine fashion. Entries are coming in and everything points to another fine affair. See you at the Casa Loma Lanes, Apr. 28 at 3:00 P. M. Fred J. Stipkovits Branch Reporter. orn Yukon, Lit) I Pennsylvania A valued member of the Branch died as a result of an unfortunate accident. John M.
