NOTE: — Dancing at the William Penn Club every Saturday night 10 ’till 2. GREETINGS, FELLOW WILLIAM PENN MEMBERS: BOWLING, BOWLING, BOWLING. That is all we have to talk and write about at this particular time. It is difficult as to where I should begin, but I shall start with our 56 mixed Senior tenpin league which is rolling along towards a border line finish as the teams are really bearing down. The 220 games are certainly being piled up. Our members will give a good account of themselves at the tournament. It is just too bad that we don’t have a tournament in the making for our small fry. We here in Johnstown are very proud of our 10-team mixed Junior Tenpin League. It is, We believe the largest league of its kind within the William Penn Fraternal Association. When we speak of these splendid little bowlers, we want to thank Mr. Frank J. Cher for the attractive bowling shirts. The KIDS really appreciate them.* Our Bantams and Juniors gave a good account of themselves in the Mailographic Tournament sponsored by the A. J. B. C. One of our teams bowling in the TRI-STATE TOURNAMENT, sponsored by the McKEESPORT branch, came out on top. We wish to congratulate District Manager Fred J. Stipkovits for a job well done. Also we enjoyed meeting Field Manager Elmer Charles, Regional Manager Gus G. Nagy, and, of course, our Director Michael J. Faczan. A very good thing for fraternalism. Mrs. Michael Faczan was a member of the Lantos bowling team that copped the top spot in the City Women’s Tournament here Sunday, April 9, which is why we were not represented by any women’s teams in the McKeesport affair. Miss Anna Hegadus, a Junior bowler, took high average award in the City Junior Bowling program. Good luck to all. President Steve Üveges thanks all the women who participated in helping make the dinner held at the William Penn Home over the tournament week end a real success. Many out-of-town bowlers attended the dinner-dance held in Springdale on May 27. There were about 20 members of Branch 296 present at the Diamond Anniversary held in Pittsburgh. Yours truly attended her first tournament and is eagerly looking forward to the next tournament in, 1962. The regular branch meetings will hereafter be held the SECOND THURSDAY of every month at 8 p. m. at the branch home. Branch 296 extends a cordial welcome to Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Mathabel. Bus and Gert have taken the position of steward at the branch home.
