One of New' York City’s District Managers, John Hegedűs, was the honored guest at a dinner and dance held by Branch 48-V, New York, New York, Saturday, January 18, 1958. The evening affair was highlighted when the Illustrious Citation and the Gold Medal of the William Penn Fraternal Association, granted by the Board of Directors to members serving the society admirably over a period of years, was formally presented to District Manager Hegedűs by Director Albert K Jbos of New York, who warmly congratulated the happy recipient on attaining the highest recognition of the William Penn. The attendance was so remarkably successful that there were not enough seats available and the dinner had to be served in sequence. The Rev. Emery Kovács, pastor of the Reformed Church, said grate as the guests sat down to tables laden with delicious food. Speakers of the evening were National Auditor John Sabo and Field Manager Elmer Charles whose addresses were very much appreciated by the applauding audience. Director Ibos, who was toastmaster, read congratulatory telegrams from Vice President Louis Varga, Directors Joseph Kormondy and Alexander Moldovany, and the National Officers. Directors other than the toastmaster who ’vere present at this affair for District Manager Hegedűs were Aloysius C. Falussy of New York City and Frank Radvany of Trenton, New Jersey. Attending also was Dr. Albert P. Mark, member of the Auditing Committee. Representation of the branches was high in the notaole attendance of district managers and branch managers, some of whom brought along their wives and friends: Field Supervisor Rnd Mrs. Joseph Toma, New York City. District Managers Andrew R. Balogh and Andrew M. Poeskoros, Bridgeport, Connecticut, with their wives and friends; Joseph Hollo and Julius J. Mate, Perth Amboy, New Jersey, with their wives and friends; I.ouis Rcvesz, Trenton, New Jersey, and his wife; Adam Simon, Jr , New Brunswick, New Jersey, and his wife and friends; John Maju3, New York City. Branch Managers Alex Nanai, 5-it (Stamford, Conn.); John Mettey, 12-11 (Newark, NJ.); Andrew Skoran, 28-R (Brooklyn, N.Y.); James Emody, 70-V (Newark, N. J.); Vincent Vertes, 135 R (Piscataway, N.T.). Also present were Mr. and Mrs. Walter Huthansel. Mrs. Huthansel is secretary at the New York District Office. Dancing followed the banquet and ceremonies. Branch 48-V wishes to thank the following who devoted much of their time to assure the success of the program for District Manager John Hegedűs: Mrs. John Marhan, Mrs. Anna Varga and her daughter Peggy. Children Given Christmas Treat by Branch 278-V Juvenile members of Branch 278-V, Omaha,- Nebraska, enjoyed a Christmas party given for them by the branch on Sunday, December 22-Schedule of the program was as follows: Introduction, by toastmaster Joseph Kish of speaker Joseph Denes. Christmas carols, English and Hungarian, with piano accopaniment Greetings by branch president Alexander Papp. Speech by Joseph Fabian, president of the Sacred Heart <f Jesus Society. Armotmcement of Santa Claus (acted by Rudy Stoyshh) coming. Distribution by Santa, at the Christmas tree, of gifts to the children. Door prizes. These were won by Mark Steven Barna, William E. Simcho and Mary Ann Chipkes.) Luncheon of beefburgers. (Mrs. Joseph Kish, Mrs. Andrew Toth, Mrs. Caspar Kuti and Mrs. Alexander Papp served.)
