The Officers also want to thank you for your patronage and support of your William Penn Fraternal Club, and hope that during the coming year you voll visit your newly remodeled club, take advantage of its facilities and find out what your club has to offer. — 129-V — We want to thank the Home Office for the liberal sports allotment that we received for the year. With the number of bowlers we have, béliévé me it certainly is appreciated. This sports allotment is based on the amount of insurance written during the year, so we want especially to thank our branch manager, District Manager Lou Tokár for doing such an excellent job! — Keep up the good work, Lou! — 129-V — We saw Field Supervisor Gabriel Nameth at the club a couple of weeks ago — are always happy to see him and hope he makes his visits more often. _ 129-V — STORK DEPT. — Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Charles Boso on the birth of their daughter, November 21st. — 129-V — SYMPATHY —- We extend our deepest sympathy to the Fuleki Family on the death of their wife and mother, Mrs. Mary Fuleki. She was a long-time member of the William Penn Fraternal Association and will be sadly missed. LOU SAYS: “Let's start '59 the best we know how! By insuring with LOU, AND DO IT NOW!” For all your insurance needs, large or small, Lou Tokár is the man to see. Don’t be one of those unfortunate ones during 1959 that finds out all too late that he is not properly insured! — DONT TAKE CHANCES! — CALL LOU TOKÁR TODAY — HI. 4-2760 — ASK HIM ABOUT THE WIDE VARIETY OF INSURANCE HE CAN OFFER YOU! No matter what your needs, HE HAS JUST THE WILLIAM PENN POLICY FOR YOU! — 129-V — In last month’s column, I gave the standings and high games of the men bowlers, and this month, it is no more than right to have the women take a bow. They have really been in there rolling with Jean Pfaitzgraf from William Penn Insurance, bowling a 229, and Betty Walden from William Penn No. 1, rolling a 238, with 628 for three games. The teams are as follows: WILLIAM PENN NO. 1. Margaret George, Capt., Irene Voss, Betty Walden, Margaret Pirik, Henrietta Kovach. WILLIAM PENN INSURANCE. Torchy Gaal, Capt., Lucille Russ, Dora Barrett, Helen Jones, Jean Pfaltzgraf. I might add that William Penn Insurance is in first place, and to both teams I say: “Keep up the good work, girls!” * , APOLOGY DEPT. — To Fred Ben- I detti for overlooking his season high | of 264. To add insult to injury, he rolled this high game at the beginning of the season. It wasn’t intentional, Fred, and please forgive me! — While I’m at it, I’ll list the three season highs and hope this gets me out of the dog house! Fred Bendetti, 264 —- Steve Paul, 262 —Pete Bangert, 258. — 129-V — In closing the column for this year, I should like personally to thank everyone who has cooperated with me in writing this column. All the news items have been greatly appreciated. Now let’s all make a New Years’ resolution to keep sending Items of interest for the paper. If you can do this, it will make this column more interesting to read and you will be taking an active interest jn your club. “Have a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year May your season be filled with Good Luck and Cheer!” News From Northwestern Ohio BRANCH 27-V TOLEDO, OHIO By Stephen J. Ivancso December 21, Sunday afternoon 3:00 P. M. to 5:00 P. M., will be the Christmas party for our Juvenile members. Please bring the youngsters. The place: Collins Park Shelter House. Rose and Dick Nagy are home after spending a short time in Canada with Rose’s father, “whom she hadn’t seen in years”. Rose says she really enjoyed the family get-together. Andrew and Joan Lesinszki, with little Julie Ann, moved into their new home on Raymer Blvd. Congratulations to this fine young couple. STORK NEWS: Mr. and Mrs. William Taylor, of Walbridge, Ohio, are the parents of a son; Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Hollo had a son too. Our congratulations. It is good news to report that another Branch 27-V member shot a 300 game in bowling. John Monoky, proprietor of Monoky’s Cafe, bowling for Jack’s Men’s Shop, had his great night at Rossford Recreation. Jimmy Struffolino, also a member of Branch 27-V, gave John a nice check for his perfect game, while A1 Steinman, the sponsor (and a good one), gave John the pick of a suit in his Men’s Shop. Johnson & Powell, the "Ebonites” from Monroe St., gave John a new bowling bag and pin. These are the extra gifts John received besides the I regular bonus for the shirt and trousers that he was wearing. I stand to be corrected, but I think this was the third 300 game bowled in the city this year, and two of them were bowled by William Penn members. Bob Nickel had the other 300. We now have a new slogan, “Join the William Penn and shoot a 300 game!” Congratulations, John Monoky. We have two outstanding high average members of 27-V: John Powell, Jr., with a 236 — second high in the country— and Zeke Kilell, with a 198. Zeke recently shot a big 703, which is mighty fine bowling. Both of these outstanding bowlers will compete at the W’illiam Penn tourney in Cleveland. In the William Penn Mixed League, Mrs. Gene Fielder showed three “pros” how bowling should be done. The three bowlers who took “lessons” were Bill Smith, James Vischer and hubby Gene Fielder. Mrs. Fielder shot a very good 204, while the “pupils” had to settle for less, plus a little side ribbing. I received a telephone call as to why I always report only the good scores. Well — If someone would call in the bad ones, the typewriter can just as easily record 370 (that’s a familiar number — guess who shot that?) as it can a 730 total. Here are fine scores the Buckeye D„„ fornr' • ? T» izcclű ÜÍ1UC1 U-'O g)l4v7w. wu ~4X1 official National 4th high total; city high of 3452. Here are the individual totals — Bob Lorensen, 686; Norb Nadrasik, 703; Capt. Bus Carone, 713; Eddie Heer, 715; and Low man Joe Filyo, 635. Excellent! These men shall “show them” in Cleveland come Decoration Day week-end. Joe Drugay won a turkey for his 248 high single for the night and 648 total in the K. of C. League. Hazel Vischer and her C & R Brunswick team made very good showings in two out-oftown tournaments. Success to her along the tournament trail. Oh, by the way, Betty Bochi is now a member of the Blade Queens and bowls on Hazel’s team. For your holiday clothes cleaning, call Jula Feyes at Bob’s cleaners. Be sure to look sharp for the holidays. If you want to go formal, see Kelly — Kalman Bak — on Sylvania Avenue at Champion Tuxedo Rentals. On the East side, Joe Laczik on Genesee Street is ready to serve you. For a nice Christmas gift in Brunswick bowling equipment you can see Bus Carone on Upton Avenue. If you’re downtown, Johnson and Powell on Monroe street have the best in Ebonite. Kindly patronize our William Penn members, for they give the best advice and the best service. Louis Vislay of Millbury come up with a fine 748 series in the East Side Traveling League that included a smashing 279 game. Lou intends to participate for-the first time in our tournament in Cleveland. We’d like to wish Bob Nickel and Junior Powell lots of luck in the nationalelimination at Chicago. We know they’ll make a good showing. Try to make a nice party of your friends and plan to attend our dance which will be held January 31, 1959 at St. Stephen’s School hall. More about this next month. In closing, may I wish all of you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
