PAGE 8 William Penn January 15, 1958 Branch 52-R Holds Christmas Party Late Branch Officer Youngsters and oldsters alike both enjoyed the first Christmas party held by Branch 52-R of Windber, Pennsylvania, Note the popularity tf the balloons. William Penn fratemalism unfolded its true spirit when Branch 52-R, Windber, Pennsylvania, held the first Christmas party for its Juvenile members Sunday, December 22, 1957, at the Hungarian Beneficial Hall, Eighth Street, Windber. The hall was beautifully decorated with gay and colorful streamers. A Christmas tree, all aglow and twinkling, glittered attractively in the center of the stage. All Juvenile members from one day to sixteen years had been mailed invitations by Branch 52-R. It was heartwarming that the great majority of these bids were honored. Many of the young guests were accompanied by their parents or other elders. Of course Santa Claus was the “This is a grand organization and I’m. glad that I’m a member of it.’’ “I hope there will be • another Christmas party next year.” Success of any endeavor depends on enthusiasm and work, plus joint effort. Branch 52-R wishes to thank publicly these individuals for their outstanding services toward the success of the first Christmas party of the branch: LADIES: Anna Kurcsics, Katherine Chamey, Bernice Geiger, Theresa Veres, Katherine Gall. GENTLEMEN: Steve Kurcsics, Michael Charney, John Orris, Frank Veres, George Conrad, Joseph Alex, John Spisak, Steve Gall Jr., Louis Demko, and especially, Peter Kish, who so very well portrayed Santa Claus. Those children unable to attend because of illness or other legitimate reasons were not left out but received their gifts by proxy. Laughing mingled with the pop-pop of bursting balloons revealed the gaiety and happiness of the celebrating children. Refreshments, prepared by the mothers, were hastily consumed by the whetted appetites of the young ones. In addition to all this were the special Home Office prizes for which the children had registered on arrival at the affair. Winners of these were: Sally Gall, 2, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Julius Gall Gloria Chamey, 10, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Chamey Elaine Veres, 11, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Veres. It’s like a wedding.” “Did ybu see the wonderful treats we got from the Home Office and our Branch?” “If I had not seen it with my own eyes, I would not have believed it.” Pictured above the 1957 officers of Branch 36-V, Detroit, Michigan.
