News From Northwestern Ohio BRANCH 27-V TOLEDO, OHIO By Stephen J. Ivancso The month of March is here, awaiting April with its showers and flowers. It’s truly a wonderful sight to welcome back our vacationing friends from Florida, California and Mexico. Mr. and Mrs. Julius Kerekes are back after spending two well-deserved Weeks at the home of their daughter, Mrs. Jack Munger, of Whittier, California. The weather, they said was on the wet side! Gizella Bochi had a wonderful trip “down Mexico way.” She came home with a real tan and renewed energy for her work as manager of Rudon’s Beauty Salon. I received a card from Mrs. Szabó. She is being “well roasted” at Ft. Pierce, Florida. Mrs. Joseph Joo just arrived from a not-to-be-forgotten trip in Florida. Dr. Geza Farkas, “red nose” and all, is back from a well-rested stay that included stops at Tampa and St. Petersburg. I wish to thank him for the cards which he brought home' — stamps and all. Dr. Farkas tells me that Florida is the place for a man that hits age 80 — for all a retired man does is fish and relax on the beach. A grand ambition to look forward to! Paul Lajti, Jr. is back home after a two weeks cruise which took him to the Caribbean. Paul says that there is no place like home — could be a very good reason. Stephen Kinsey is vacationing in Miami. At this writing, the bowlers of Toledo are getting prepared for the trip to Dayton, and to bring home laurels. Teams are being feverishly organized. Toledo should be well represented. Some are getting prepared by really hitting fine scores. Rip Tinta had a fine 289. Not to be outdone, Eddie Heer hit a 299. Team mate Joe Filyo hit the jackpot — a 300 game that same evening. These men will show some skillful pin spilling at Dayton. I must report one “casualty” at our 50th anniversary banquet. Emery Biro’s hat was exchanged. If anyone has the wrong hat, please call TAylor 1535, or TAylor 9641, in the evening. We have the other hat. To District Manager Ernest C.Taylor in Chicago: Bob Nickle enjoyed his stay at the National Eliminations this year. He tells me that he met a very friendly William Penn bowler who went all out to entertain him. The “bigbear” informs me that this gentleman will be on one of Branch 15-V’s teams in Dayton. Our condolences to the John Pozsik family on the passing of their father, John, Sr. New arrivals at Branch 27-V: To Mr. and Mrs. Myron Knudson, a daughter, Vicky; to Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Gall, a son; to Mr. and Mrs. James Henahan, a son, Martin; to Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Danisovszky, a son, Leslie; to Mr. and Mrs. James Zabrosky, a daughter, Bonnie. Mr. and Mrs. James Vischer may be noted for their bowling, but their handsome son Gary is winning blue ribbons for his swimming. To some of our members who are getting the journal for the first time: Branch 27-V holds its meeting the 2nd Sunday of every month, at the Greek Catholic Church basement, corner of Bogár and Valentine Streets, in East Toledo. HAPPY EASTER, Fellow William Penn members. Do You Know the Whereabouts of . . . COLOMAN JUH ASZ (Juhász Kálmán), engineer and professor in America? He is sought by Payka Zoltán, Pongráe-u. 9., 4/B, 161 B, Budapest, who in 1911 graduated from school in Szatmárnémeti, Szatmár county, Hungary, and was a classmate of Coloman Juhasz. If you have information concerning Coloman Juhasz, please write to the address above, or to the William Penn Fraternal Association, 436 Fourth Avenue, Pittsburgh 19, Pennsylvania.
