Camp Kilmer, New Jersey, where he is assisting in the Refugee Program. His Magyar ancestry is a very important asset to his work with the Hungarian Refugees. Captain Gergely hails from Chal­­fant Boro, East Pittsburgh, Pennsyl­vania. He is married to the former Margaret Mitrik, also of Hungarian descent and from Duquesne, Pennsyl­vania. They are the parents of three children, a son and two daughters aged 12, 9 and 2, repectively. The Gergelys are members of Branch 71-V, Duquesne, Pennsylvania. A veteran of active military serv­ice for the past 19 years, Captain Gergely saw action in World War II and served throughout the Korean Campaign. He has been overseas on four separate assignments, which in­cluded Hawaii, Far East Command and Europe. He is the bearer of the Combat Infantryman’s Badge, Bronze Star, Commendation Medal, Purple Heart and other awards.
