February 20, 1957. William Penn PAGE 11 S£ CHATTERBOX Braneh 129-V Columbus, Ohio i| By William Franklin We wish to apologize for having' ■missed our deadline last month, caused by sickness, plus pressure of the holiday rush. All is forgiven, we hope, and we will endeavor to make this column suffice for the month missed, to boot this issue too. First, we wish to give you the results of the election of the new officers for 1957. Our new officers are as follows: President — George Tokár Vice President — Stephen Deri Secretary — Clara (Torchy) Gaal Treasurer — Charlie Boso Auditors — Evelyn Boucher — Bonnie Tokár Directors (Elected for 2 Years) 1957-58: — John Bender — Dave George — Paul Cook — Louis Miller The following Directors have 1957 Term to Serve: — Kenneth Bolar — Buell Rice — Andrew Guyer We wish all these officers the best of luck and we hope that all the members will work with them in trying to bring about a better fellowship between lodge and members. ATTENTION ALL MALE BOWLERS: — It seems that the fair sex of our organization is taking over and making us fellows sit up and take notiee. Irene Voss, who bowls with one of our women’s teams, bowled in the local City Tournament, and ,iust about swept the board.^ She had a 634 in the singles to take second place and, along with her doubles team mate, Marg Zaney, championship in the doubles. Congratulations, Irene. Keep up the good work. We hope you have as much success in our National Tournament at Dayton We wish to announce that the Christmas Party for our Juvenile members was a big success. Santa Clause gave out gifts to almost 200 children, plus ice cream, cake, candy, etc. It was evident that all the children thoroughly enjoyed ■themselves and, to substantiate our statement, notice the picture below. We wish to thank the Home Office for the extra gifts which were very much appreciated. ATTENTION ALL MEMBERS: — Let's fulfill our obligation to the branch and to ourselves by attending all branch meetings, thus having a voice in our organization. If anything is bothering you, bring it to the meeting and let’s get it settled. We urge you to attend these meetings in order to promote a better understanding between the members and the working organization of our lodge. That is the only way we are ever going to settle any issues that might be to the best interest of us all. Remember, the lodge meeting is the second Thursday of every month, so make it your business to attend these meetings. We wish to announce that euchre parties are held every Thursday evening at the William Penn Home. If you like to play euchre, here is a good chance. Come join in the fun. IN MEMÓRIÁM: — We wish to offer our heartfelt sympathy to the Mészáros Family in the death of their beloved Mother, Mrs. Joseph Mészáros, who resided at 245 Hinman Avenue, Columbus, Ohio. She was a long and faithful member of our branch and her presence will be sadly missed. TO MY CORRESPONDENTS: — My new address is 2497 Dawnlight Avenue, Columbus, Ohio . ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ s ■ ■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■a ■■■■■■! WILLIAM PENN WATCHTOWER By JOSEPH J. August Pryatel, former superintendent of insurance of the State of Ohio, was sworn in as municipal judge on January 2 at the Cleveland City Hall by Ralph Locher, city law director. The judge is a good friend of ours and feels close to the Hungarians. It is understandable then that among his well-wishers at the ceremonies were Judge Joseph Stearns, Frank R. Pokorny, Ted Jurkuta, others. We predict that Judge Pryatel will be one of the outstanding members on the bench. We were in Columbus, Ohio January 7, duly sworn in for our second term. After the ceremonies, we organized the house so that we could proceed with the business. Ed Sepessy, Branch 366-V member, will be in the attorney general’s office of the State of Ohio'.
