THE ADMINISTRATOR When Field Manager Elmer Charles succeeded to the position of Administrator of the Tournament-Fellowship Days ' he fully realized the key responsibilities involved. However, his first try at this arduous venture was gratifyingly successful. Here he is about to address the multitude at the Victory Dinner-Dance. NEW RECORDS AND PRECEDENTS ESTABLISHED IN DAYTON (Continued from page 2) name of the Board of Directors. Actually, a better word would be “greeter” rather than “speaker.” Remember a precedent was begun at this Victory dinner. Telegrams were received from Director Frank Magyary of Akron, Ohio, Director Frank Radvany of Trenton, New Jersey, and Investment Manager Richard J. Phillips. At this point Mr. Charles quickly introduced William Penn notables and their families. We were able to write down the following introductions, with apologies for those missed: National Secretary Albert J. Stelkovics, his wife and daughter, National Auditor John Sabo and his wife, National Treasurer Julius E. Somogyi and his wife, Vice President Julius Macker and his wife, Vice President Louis Varga, his wife and daughter, Director Andrew Kovács, M.D., Director Alexander Moldovany, Auditing Committee Chairman Gaspar Papp and his wife, Auditing Committeeman Andrew Bandy and his wife, Auditing Committee Secretary William C. Kohut, his wife and son, National President Coloman Revesz, his wife and daughter, Field Supervisors Gus G. Nagy, Gabriel Nameth and Frank J. Wukovits, their wives, Field Supervisor Joseph Toma, Mrs. Elmer Charles and son, and others. After these introductions a medley of Hungarian songs was sung by Jeno Mate, a fine professional voice indeed. Mr. Mate sacrificed a profitable booking to be with us. We are glad he did. He has appeared in leading entertainment places. The delightful music of Louis Sikora and his Society Notes, playing for both the dinner and the dance, accompanied singer Mate. Now came an ovation for the Rev. Andrew Hamza, member of the Local Tournament Committee, in recognition for his over and above services to help make the Dayton affair the success it was. As we mentioned two paragraphs ago, Louis Sikora and his fine musicians played very well, and so they too were given the generous applause of a grateful audience. More introductions followed: Mrs. Amelia Fodor, publisher of the DETROIT HUNGARIAN NEWS (Detroiti Újság); John P. Kelemen, publisher and editor of the HUNGARIAN HERALD (Magyar Híradó), a member of the Local Tournament Committee of Dayton; Andrew Fay Fisher, publisher and editor of the HUNGARIAN MINER’S JOURNAL (Magyar Bányászlap); Al G. Kertész, Director of the Dayton Hungarian Radio Program, also on the Local Tournament Committee; John Szalanczy former National Treasurer of our Association, now living in retirement near Chicago; Anthony Lachman, former Chicago branch officer, now retired in Florida, who every year leaves the Sunshine State to attend our Tournament-Fellowship Days. Mr. Charles, the toastmaster, here introduced the members of the National Tournament Executive Committee: Director Albert B. Ibos, Chairman, Director John P. Balia, Gabriel Czemai, Michael J. Faczan, Michael Korosy, and Michael Sopronyi, Dayton member. This committee did much — lending its assistance everywhere, assembling the trophies, spending much time at the tournament, etc., etc. The Chairman of the Local Tournament Committee of Dayton, Director Louis Vassy, was introduced. Some of Mr. Vassy’s committee members were: Rev. Andrew Hamza, John P. Kelemen, Al G. Kertész, District Manager George Sopronyi, Jr., and George Sopronyi, Sr. These men and any others whose names we do not have matched the efforts of the National Tournament Executive Committee. They put out a neat Tournament Album. The blue and gold cover has a glasslike finish. The time came to make the bowling awards and “Pop” Dillinger came forward with his report. The Frank J. Brogley Trophy for the Five-Man Handicap Event was presented to Old Dutch Beer, Branch 189-V, Alliance, Ohio, by Director John P. Balia. The Albert B. Ari Trophy for _ the Five-Woman Handicap Event was presented to William Penn Fraternal Association, Team No. 1, Branch 275-V, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, by Director Gabriel Czernai. The Five-Man Scratch Event was won by William Penn #4, Branch 27-V, Toledo, Ohio. Director Michael Korosy made the presentation. The Five-Woman Scratch Event was won by Palais Royale Lanes, Branch 132-V, South Bend, Indiana. Director Michael J. (Continued on page 16)
