December 19, 1956 PAGE 5 William Penn MERCIFUL RESPONSE TO SMITTEN HUNGARY On November 4th, at a mass meeting held at the William Penn Home in South Bend, Indiana, a Hungarian Relief Committee, composed of the Hungarian churches and societies of South Bend,-was organized for the express purpose of conducting a campaign for .clothing and financial assistance for the distressed people of Hungary, unrelentingly struggling for their liberty against Communistic Russian oppression. The local William Penn Home was selected as headquarters for the drive. Frank J. Wukovits, Field Supervisor, is serving as treasurer of the Relief Committee. The sympathy and generosity of the people of the greater South Bend area has been very gratifying. At its November meeting, South Bend Branch 132-V voted $1,000 for Hungarian Relief, half the amount as immediate relief and the other half to be used later as direct aid to Hungary. The members and the officers of Branch 132-V are working hand in hand towards the success of this noble drive.
