¥«L XXXIX. OCTOBER 17, 1956 51 NUMBER 10. IN THE INTEREST OF TRUTH Our Board of Directors, at its recent and latest session, was faced with passing judgment on an unsavory situation existing at Branch 98-V, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, between one Julius Kiucsik, member, and Stephen Lang. Sr., Director. The case in question is known by the members of Branch 98-V, there being no particular value in familiarizing the rest of the membership with it. After thorough investigation, both pro and con, of all the facts, the Board of Directors concluded that member Klucsik’s attacks, both by word of mouth and in writing, against Director Lang, were without foundation, unjustified, uncharitable and in violation of the principles of fraternalism. It is regrettable that the sincere efforts of Director Lang were rewarded with barbs, criticism and assaults on the honor of this veteran Director. The Board of Directors unanimously affirmed its faith and confidence in Director Lang. It has always been the policy of this Association to give the benefit of the doubt and to do everything reasonably possible for the member, but at the same time ever to defend what is right and just in its actions. William Penn Fraternal Association CERTIFICATE OF AUDIT The books and accounts of the William Penn Fraternal Association were audited for the six months beginning January 1, 1956 and up to and including June 30, 1956, and certification is made as to the correctness of the financial schedules for the above-mentioned period as stated in the published records of the William Penn Fraternal Association. All the income accounts were first examined and verified, i.e., individual branch treasury slips showing the total branch remittances were checked against those amounts officially shown in the tabulated monthly dues ledger, interests received were traced to the bank deposit slips, and the same can be said for the rentals obtained from the Home Office Buildings, and also the interests received from the various mortgage loans; a physical count and inspection has verified the stock dividends credited to our Association, profit on sold and called bonds was also verified, each deposit checked against the bank statement issued by a responsible banking institution. Our Bond portfolio was checked most carefully, and each and every bond accounted for. The examination of these securities disclosed the fact that as of June 30, 1956, the total investment value of the bonds was $21,150,934.45, distributed as follows: Public Utilities $12,399,335.70 Government 1,595,194.50 State Special Revenue 529,441.20 Municipal “Regular” Bonds 1,133,179.24 Municipal Spec.
