Buffalo’s welcome mat fraternally greets you. Being New York’s second city and a community very important industrially and otherwise, Buffalo and its environs are easily accessible to the traveler and visitor. Train and plane service are excellent and the modern highways connected to this metropolis are favored by buses and cars, so transportation is an incentive rather than a problem. In downtown Buffalo is Hotel Statler. Here we shall lodge in luxury and enjoy superbly the Victory Dinner-Dance to be held in one of the hotel’s gorgeous rooms the evening of the 12th. Hotel reservations for the bowlers have been made by the team captains. However, non-bowlers are to obtain their reservation cards from their branch managers, the Home Office, or failing these aforegoing recommended procedures, should write direct to the hotel itself. The reservations should be forwarded to Hotel Statler AT ONCE. Rooms are held till six o’clock but are retained later if the hotel is notified. Rates for rooms are as follows: Singles $7.00, Doubles $10.00, Twins $11.00. Dormitory accommodations are available at $3.00 per person for a party of four or more. The NATIONAL TOURNAMENT EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE TO STAR AT FELLOWSHIP EVENT GYPSY COUNTESS JULIA The lovely and petite Gypsy Countess Julia, Hungarian and Continental Chanteuse, will be the stellar attraction on the entertainment program of the Victory Dinner-Dance to be held at the Hotel Statler the evening of May 12 as the social climax of our Buffalo, New York Tournament-Fellowship Days. Originally planning to become a concert pianist, Gypsy Countess Julia studied piano at the Chicago Conservatory in Chicago, also at the Budapest Conservatory in Budapest, Hungary. However, her passionate love of singing prompted her to take vocal lessons in New York City, which she did under the tutelage of several excellent voice teachers, among them Evelyn Herztman, teacher of such opera stars as Mimi ßenzel, Patrice Munsel, Dolores Wilson and many others. Gypsy Countess Julia has a background of entertainment experience that is at once both impressive and varied. Her beautiful voice has been heard in such well-known and popular New York night clubs as the TOKAY, the CHÁRDÁS, the GRINZING, ZIMMERMAN’S HUNGÁRIA, the HUNGARIAN GARDEN and the CLUB CONTINENTAL. In Florida she has entertained at these famous places: the RONEY PLAZA, the PROMENADE, the SEA GULL and the SURFCOMBER. Add to the aforegoing her apprearances at Radio Stations WHN, WWRL and WABC and stage parts in several Hungarian operettas, then it is quite evident that in Gypsy Countess Julia we will have an entertainer high in her field. We are very happy indeed to introduce to you our singing star pf the 1956 Buffalo Tournament — Fellowship Days Victory Dinner-Dance — GYPSY COUNTESS JULIA — whose dulcet voice will thrill her listeners.
