Toth-Maskarinec Spring is here. We hope the snow is gone so the Easter Bunny will have a clear path to everyone's house. We are getting revved up for our activities lined up for the months ahead. We still have some hurka and fresh (not smoked) kolbász left. Price is a mere $7 a pound, and we will ship for an additional fee. We also have stuffed cabbage for $20 per dozen rolls. And all of this can be prepared in a crockpot for those on the go. Now, that's a Hungarian gourmet Easter meal if there ever was any. We really appreciate everyone who supports our fundraisers as they truly are for a great cause: the restoration and repair of the steps, porch and ladies room at the First Hungarian Reformed Church of Homestead. Please call Mark Maskarinec at 412-398-2078 or email at tothmaskarinec@gmail.com should you have a desire to purchase any of these delectable edibles. We continue to seek donations to cover the cost of repairs to the First Hungarian Reformed Church of Homestead. Checks may be sent to Branch Vice-President Mark Maskarinec, 1836 Timothy Drive, West Mifflin, PA 15122. All donations are tax deductible and will be greatly appreciated and acknowledged. We send get well wishes to branch members Jim Findlay, Mark Maskarinec and Janet and Rudy Phillips. Come on, people-hurry up and get better soon. The get-well list is starting to grow. We need you back and thriving and look forward to seeing your smiling faces at our upcoming events. Due to high demand, we will have another Chef's Tasting on Sunday, April 7, at 1:00 p.m. at Butler's Golf Course in Elizabeth, Pa. The theme for this one will be "Dean Martin" and it will also mark the occasion of Branch Secretary-Treasurer Ruth Toth's 89th birthday. Sounds like a relaxing way to spend a Sunday. Price is $25 per person and includes a wine pairing with dinner. We wish happy birthday to Ruth and other members celebrating their day in April: Robert Toth on April 3, Helena Lubiano on April 4, Tim Toth on April 5, Nancy Toth on April 7 and Keith Toth on April 12. We at Branch 89 continue to be grateful for all our members who come out and support our events. Fratemalism can always be found at our branch. Plans are under way for a Join Hands Day project to be held at the First Hungarian Reformed Church of Homestead in the next month or two. Mark the date: Saturday, June 29, when we will hold a special golf outing at Champion Lakes to benefit the church repairs project. Please check our next report for further information on time and price. For anyone who has golfed in any of the outings at Champion Lakes, you know what a terrific time to expect and what wonderful hosts Dick Groat and his daughter can be. It's a real joy holding an event at their establishment and also being able to stay at their bed and breakfast ahead of time. And let's not forget about the monthly Hungarian Night at Dorothy 6th on 8th Avenue in Homestead on April 26. Come check it out. The food is great and the Bátyi Orchestra never better. Take care everyone, and start those stretching exercises; golf is right around the corner. We are preparing for our Annual Golf Outing. We promise it will be even bigger and better than last year's event, if that is even possible. May this Easter be a blessed holiday for all, and may we remember WILLIAM PENN LIFE 0 April 2019 0 21
