For Starters Join Hands Against Hunger PITTSBURGH - WPA members and branches are responding to our call to join the Association in our Join Hands Against Hunger 2019 campaign. They realize that the need for assistance in their communities is constant and is especially vital at this time of year when donations to local food banks and other charitable organizations decline after the holidays. This program, combined with our annual Easter Basket program, can make such a positive impact on your community and those in need. It is a perfect opportunity to show the true meaning of fraternalism. Reimbursement will be available to all participating WPA branches through the Association’s matching funds program. The deadline for returning the forms and receipts to the Home Office is April I, 2019. Each branch’s participation in this effort will be recognized in William Penn Life. Please contact your local branch officers or our Home Office toll-free at 1-800-848-7366, ext. 149, for more information. Easter Basket program helps neighbors in need ONCE AGAIN, William Penn Association branches will be spreading the fraternal spirit this Easter to those in their communities who may need a little help by participating in our Easter Basket program. Now in its sixth year, our Easter Basket program encourages branch members to gather food and household items and to distribute those items to their neighbors in need. It is an excellent way to make a positive impact on your community. In past years, some branches have hosted "basket parties" during which they offered light refreshments and allowed members and potential members to gather in fun and fellowship while supporting a worthy cause. Some members focus their energy on creating a cheerful Easter Basket for one family in need, while others opt to create several smaller gift baskets for several families or for the residents of a local senior care home. Whatever your branch decides to do, remember to take photos of your event to be published in William Penn Life. This activity is an event for your branch and also expresses your fraternalism during the Lenten season. Your branch will be reimbursed up to $50 for your participation. Deadline for submitting participation forms, photos and receipts is May 6.
