The Ohio Fraternal Alliance is comprised of 26 fraternal benefit societies in Ohio and provides meaningful education, information, knowledge-sharing and networking opportunities to member fraternals. All the societies work together to further the common interests of their members. This year's program featured an in-depth presentation by Kelly Shedlock, Chaplain of OF A, on the "Millennials' Impact on Fraternals Today." This was followed by a discussion led by Leo Hannah, CPA MBA, partner in H2R of Pittsburgh, on the topic of "The Importance of an Audit for Fraternals." The afternoon speaker was Joseph Annotti, President and CEO of the American Fraternal Alliance, who talked about what is new and changing in fraternal benefit societies and on the various legislative fronts. All three speakers had relevant information to impart and were a valuable resource for the board, delegates and members present. The afternoon session was followed by a Catholic Mass, celebrated by the Rev. Anthony Suco of St. Columbkille Church of Cleveland. On Saturday evening, we attended a semi-formal dinner which, of course, would not be complete without a Chinese auction to raise money for the OFA scholarship fund. In 2018, OFA awarded scholarships to four students. Because classes were in session at the time of the meeting, the recipients could not attend this dinner. Anyone interested in participating in the 2019 Ohio Fraternal Alliance Scholarship Program can find more information on page 2 of this issue of William Penn Life. After the dinner, Vice Chair Novak was requested to do the honor of installing the OFA Board for the 2018- 2019 term. Despite a horrible storm that blew through the area on Saturday afternoon and the snow (yes, snow!) on Sunday morning, it was a very educational, informative, beneficial and entertaining weekend. WPA joins Ohio fraternalists for annual meetin by Richard E. Sarosi BEACHWOOD, OH — The Cleveland Hungarian Heritage Society held its 22nd Vintner Dinner Oct. 20 at the Canterbury Golf Club in Beachwood to raise funds for the Cleveland Hungarian Museum. Music for this formal affair was provided by Harmonia. I had the pleasure of representing William Penn Association at the dinner. I extended greetings from the Association and presented a check to Alex Kezdi, President of the Cleveland Hungarian Heritage Society (pictured left), who graciously accepted it and thanked WPA for its continued support over the years. The Society also took this occasion to honor the Hungarian Cultural Center of Northeastern Ohio, represented by its president, Mary Jane Molnár. 8 0 December 2018 0 WILLIAM PENN LIFE
