William Penn Life, 2018 (53. évfolyam, 1-12. szám)
2018-09-01 / 9. szám
Branch News Nov. 7. Both meetings start at 7:00 p.m. Branch 14 adult members and guests are welcome to attend. Upcoming fall activities in the Cleveland area include the Third Gala Organ Concert for the benefit of the Cleveland Hungarian Cultural Garden, to be held on Sunday, Oct. 7. In addition, many churches will be hosting harvest festivals this fall. Check with the churches for more information. As always, check William Penn Life each month for information on WPA events and other events in the Hungarian commuity. Again, please support the clubs and organizations in your local communities that still continue our Hungarian customs, traditions, music and food. We remember those WPA members who have passed away or who may have recently lost a loved one. May they all rest in peace. Get well wishes are being sent to all of our Branch 14 and WPA members, as well as our friends, who might be feeling under the weather, dealing with health issues or recovering from a surgery. We send out get well wishes and prayers to Branch 14 members Frances Hassel, Carl Horvath, Michelle Day, and Ernie Sarosi and to Branch 14 President Caroline Lanzara for their continued healing, recovery and return to good health. Please keep them and all of our WPA members in your prayers and thoughts. Happy birthday and happy anniversary wishes are being sent out to all of our branch members and Home Office staff, who are celebrating a September/ October birthday and/or anniversary. May everyone be blessed with many more birthdays and anniversaries. Lastly, your continued support throughout the year of the William Penn Fraternal Association Scholarship Foundation is very important and needed, as it provides the funds that are distributed to our student members for their college studies. Please support education and our students. As always, please remember to keep in touch with someone you haven't seen or talked with in a long time. Don't let the opportunity pass you by. Pick up the phone and/or plan a visit. Also, remember those who are in the hospital, rehabilitation facilities and extended care facilities; they like to have visitors. Branch 14 members having news to share about themselves or family members can reach me at RichSaro@ att.net or at 440-248-9012. Branch 18 Lincoln Park, MI by Barbara A. House Happy Labor Day. Can you believe it is now September? Where did the summer go? Everyone knows I am not a "summer" but a "winter," and, boy, am I ready. We had a pretty hot one here as did many of you. As always, it was a super-busy season. You can read all about the great things that happened in your WPA family in my fraternal column on page 3. Meanwhile, Branch 18 has restarted our branch trips. We teamed up with Riverview seniors and went to Windsor, Canada. There were 55 of us. It was so successful, we did it again. We are working on other trips for next year. Remember, we recently restarted our branch meetings. Come and share your opinions, thoughts, ideas and concerns with the rest of your fellow members. We need you to tell us what you would like to do. Branch members Steve J. Stoltz and his granddaughter Ambrielle V. Stoltz-Bango attended the University of Debrecen Summer School (Debreceni Nyári Egyetem) in Debrecen, Hungary. They were among 200 students who participated in a fourweek program in language and culture. Classes were held in the nearly 100-year-old majestic Főépülete (main building). Ambrielle is a WPA scholarship recipient and attends the University of Michigan. Get well wishes go out to all who are feeling under the weather, especially Elsie Kantor, Alex Kulcsár, Julie Bubenko, Doug Truesdell, David Bodnar and the Rev. Barnabas Kiss. We wish you good health very soon. Happy belated 99th birthday wishes to Olga Wansa. Also, happy belated birthday to Dianne Charles and Home Office employees Anthony Mastrangelo and Megan Craig. Thanks for your help, Megan. Hope you all have many more. Hello to my mom, Irene Gall. Even at 96, she still looks forward to reading William Penn Life. Happy anniversary to my husband, Tom. Can you believe it's been 52 years? Thank you to Ursula and Tom Markovits for my very special "surprise" birthday on July 28. You worked so hard. Thank you to all who remembered my day. It was a wonderful day. Thanks to Tom who planned my day so perfectly. Please pray for the families and loved ones of our recently departed members, especially Elsie Bocskay, Margaret Danielak and Emma Florescu. May they rest in peace. My thought for the month: It is only when we understand that we have a limited time on Earth, and we have no way of knowing when our time is up, that we begin to live each day to the fullest, as if it were the only one we had.
