Magyar Matters A Magyar Christmas in Connecticut FAIRFIELD, CT - Hungarians in the Fairfield area gathered Dec. 11 at the Calvin United Church of Christ for the annual Karácsonyi Ünnepségére (Christmas Celebration) hosted by the Pannónia American Hungarian Club and the church. Representing WPA at the event was National Director Richard E. Sarosi who spoke about WPA and its involvement in the Hungarian Community in the United States, Hungary and other areas of the world. Other speakers included Dr. Ferenc Kumin, Consul General of Hungary in New York; Rt. Rev. Bishop Emeritus Koloman Ludwig; and representatives of Hungarian Television of Budapest, who were filming the presentations and the events of the day. The program included a traditional Christmas pageant featuring about 75 children who sang, played musical instruments and recited the Christmas story and Biblical passages in Hungarian. At the conclusion of the program, the guest of honor, Szt. Miklós, arrived to the delight of the children and the adults. I have to say that I was excited as much as the children since this was my first time to see him in person in all of my years. We thank Rev. Tibor Király and the members of his church for the hospitality and warm reception that was extended to me and my parents, Violet and Ernie Sarosi. We had a great time and enjoyed seeing their beautiful church, Calvin Hall and the parsonage. - Richard E.
