Branch News in our thoughts and prayers. And Jim, we expect to see you riding that lawnmower of yours up and down Brierly Lane in the near future. Get better, all! Branch 89 will be distributing Holiday Baskets to those less fortunate in the upcoming weeks. Pictures to follow. Take care and make every day count. Do something nice for someone and see how good you will feel. It takes more energy to complain about something than it does to correct the problem. Fraternalism is the key! Let's make it count. Branch 129 Columbus, OH by Debbie Lewis As 2017 comes to a close, we would like to wish you love, joy and happiness this holiday season and always. May you all be blessed with good health in 2018. Branch 226 McKeesport, PA by Judit Ganchuk Congrats again to all of our WPFASF scholarship recipients featured in last month's issue of William Penn Life, especially Branch 226 members Matthew Benedek, Mary DeFazio, Libby Myers, Daniel Trombola and Sarah DeFazio. Special congratulations to Daniel (pictured left) for also earning his Eagle Scout designation earlier this year and to Sarah for winning second prize for her scholarship essay. We send get well wishes to Margaret "Manci" Király and our other branch members who are coping with illnesses. December is a busy month! The Free Hungarian Reformed Church in McKeesport will hold their annual chicken paprikás dinner (take out only) on Saturday, Dec. 2. Please call the church at 412-672-7298 for info. On Dec. 6, Hungarian children will celebrate St. Nicholas Day by putting their shoes out the night before, hoping to get candy and small toys as a reward for being good all year long. The students at the Hungarian embroidery class at the Free Hungarian Reformed Church in McKeesport, many of whom are WPA members, have created a "Hungarian Dancing Queen" Christmas tree for the Festival of Christmas trees contest to be held in McKeesport's Renzie Park Main Pavilion. The students worked hard this fall, creating handmade decorations for the tree. Come view beautiful Christmas trees and enjoy a visit with Santa from Dec. 7 to 11. Our branch was able to donate a few much-needed Holiday Baskets to members of our community, thanks to WPA's program. Our last branch meeting of the year will be held before our Christmas party at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 10, at the Free Hungarian Reformed Church in McKeesport. Party photos coming next month! Branch members, please note that the branch will take a break in January and February. We will resume holding regular meetings in the spring. Finally, at this festive time of year, keep up an attitude of gratitude. Make someone else's day happy and don't expect anything in return; it may surprise you how good it feels to give to others. On behalf of Branch 226, we wish you a happy and blessed Christmas and Happy New Year, or in Hungarian: Kellemes karácsonyi ünnepeket és boldog új évet kívánunk!
