Branch News Graduation congratulations go to Branch 18 members Samantha House (left), Zachary Haas and Shelby Truesdell. bers. Without your donations, we cannot give scholarships. The meeting is followed by our golfers welcome reception. We have a beautiful menu planned. Chinese auction and Monte Carlo tables will keep you entertained. We have some wonderful prizes for you to win. All the money we raise will go to our scholarship foundation. See you there. We are also getting ready to greet you at our Hungarian Heritage Experience. I am meeting with Chef Ursula Markovits tomorrow to plan a menu that will please your Hungarian taste buds. We are going to have a great week. Branch 18 had a great Join Hands Day project. We cleaned and planted in three locations. But, you don't have to wait for Join Hands Day to be a volunteer. I know many places that would love to see helpers come in: homeless shelters, food banks, Meals on Wheels, veterans homes, soup kitchens-there are so many places. We helped with many bingo parties at the local veterans hospital. Prizes were nominal, but the vets didn't care. We also supplied donuts, coffee and conversation when we were done with games. Had a ball. You can do the same at senior centers. Once you go and see how well received you are, you can't wait to go again. Just some suggestions to help you choose. Father Barnabas is in Rome and Vienna. He finishes off his trip in Hungary, celebrating his birthday with his aunts. You are missed. Branch 18 is planning a day trip to Firekeepers Casino on July 11. Your cost is $30. You will receive $25 back to spend. We will leave from the Hungarian Cultural Center on Goddard in Taylor at 9:30 a.m. We will be home by 7:00 p.m. Please let me know if you want to attend. Our next branch meeting will be held at the Cultural Center on Aug. 23 at 6:00 p.m. Our Charity-of-the-Month was won by George Schvarckopf. He chose the Robert Jones Council K of C as his charity. We also support the WPFA Scholarship Foundation every month. Get well wishes to Doug Truesdell, Tom Kerek, George and Doris Schvarckopf, Eleanor Kender, Beata Császár, Joe Csereklye and Albert Frate. We wish you speedy recoveries. We at Branch 18 lost a wonderful member. Mary Tirpák reached the age of 95. You may remember when she and my mother celebrated their 90th birthdays at the WPA Picnic. She was quite a woman, a true volunteer, bowler, cook, crocheter and knitter. Condolences to her family. Congratulations to our recent branch graduates: • Zachary Haas, son of Victoria Haas and grandson of Carol and Doug Truesdell. • Shelby Truesdell, daughter of David Truesdell and grandaughter of Carol and Doug Truesdell. • Samantha House, niece of Barbara and Tom House. • Olivia Hall, granddaughter of Joseph and Wanda Gall.
