That's all for now. July is coming up with family vacations. See you next month. Branch 296 Springdale, PA by Mary Ann Kelly-Lovasz Yay, summer! The warmer weather is finally upon us, and we welcome the season of weddings, graduation celebrations, baseball games, outdoor concerts... and lawn mowing, trimming and weed pulling. Well, you've got to take the bad with the good, right? During our May meeting, we conducted our annual Join Hands Day project. A dozen volunteers decorated and filled 60 snack bags for families staying at the Ronald McDonald House of Pittsburgh. I'll have a few more details about this project in next month's report. Wishing a terrific birthday to Mary Arm Slaninka as well as Branch Vice President Marge Kosheba. May all of our members bom this month enjoy their special day. Since June is such a popular month in which to get married, happy anniversary wishes to all couples. Get well wishes to all of our 296ers who are recuperating; we send encouraging thoughts to each of you for a speedy recovery. A special nod to my father-in-law John L. Lovász who is convalescing from a recent foot surgery. For our members who have recently lost a loved one, please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. We're hoping that good memories will carry you through your grief. As Father's Day nears, we extend our most heartfelt wishes to all of our dads, paps and step-fathers, and those who have acted in place of a father in our lives. We love, honor and appreciate you. Special greetings to my own husband and fatherin-law. I cherish the memory of my own dad and miss him greatly. He had a warm heart, a helpful spirit and a terrific sense of humor. The annual WPA Golf Tournament & Scholarship Days will be July 7 and 8 at Chestnut Ridge Golf Resort & Conference Center in Blairsville, Pa. There is still time to plan a nice golf outing with friends and family at a great course that we have not visited for a while. I'll be looking for you! Mark your calendars for Sunday, Sept. 24, for Branch 296's annual bacon roast (szalonna sütés). We'll return to lovely Riverside Park in Oakmont. The same pavilion has been reserved—the one closest to the Hulton Bridge behind Riverview High School. Those who have joined us in previous years have really enjoyed the food and friendship. Visitors from other branches are cordially invited to join us for a nice afternoon. Not only is it fantastic seeing familiar faces, but we also meet some new folks. Guests are asked to bring a covered dish or dessert to supplement the hot dogs, kolbász and bacon. It'll be a great feast, so why not join us? We'll keep you posted with more details. Branch 296 is on its summer break. Our next regular meeting will be on Thursday, Sept. 14 at 6:30 p.m., at the New Kensington King's Family Restaurant. You may contact our ever-friendly and helpful agent Noreen Fritz, FIC, LUTCF, for help with your insurance and annuity needs and to learn about WPA's outstanding products and fraternal benefits. Noreen can be reached at 412-821-1837 or by email at noreenbunny.fritz@verizon. net. Most of all, remember that June is a lovely month. Go out and enjoy it! Branch 352 Coraopolis, PA by Dora S. McKinsey Summer is finally here! Officially, summer starts June 21 this year. Time to get out the sunscreen. It's hard to believe that the year is halfway over. Where does the time go? For our Join Hands Day project, Branch 352 will be planting flowers in the planters at the Western Pennsylvania Humane Society on Saturday, June 3. The Humane Society is located at 1101 Western Ave. on Pittsburgh's North Side. If you are interested in helping, please contact me for details. Come and join us; we would love to see you. Planting starts at 10:00 a.m. This month, we celebrate two special holidays. Flag Day is June 14 on which we commemorate the adoption of the flag of the United States. President Woodrow Wilson officially established June 14 as Flag Day in 1949. Father's Day is June 18. Happy Father's Day to all of those dads out there. Being a good dad to your children is one of the most important responsibilities you will ever have. Congratulations to all the graduates, both high school and college. All of that hard work has paid off. The school year will soon be over, WILLIAM PENN LIFE 0 June 2017 0 29
