Branch 40 Martins Ferry, OH Branch 349 Weirton, WV by Joyce Nicholson Hello from the WPA branches in Martins Ferry, Ohio, and Weirton, W.Va. Our branches held a Christmas party on Dec. 3 at King's Restaurant in Wintersville. Santa saw many good girls and boys this year. Parents and children dropped by the restaurant throughout the morning for our open house Breakfast with Santa event to stop and talk, grab a bite, visit Santa to confirm their wish list, play games for prizes and receive their William Penn Association gift bags. Adults and kids alike had a lot of fun with Santa! Later that day, we also donated our holiday gift cards and baskets to organizations and individuals who really needed a boost for their Christmas celebration dinners. They were very thankful and grateful that WPA remembered them during the holiday season. Our sympathies to those who lost loved ones. Get well wishes go to those who are not at their physical best. Happy birthday and anniversary to those celebrating in January! Stay warm and bring the pets in. Warmer weather will be here before you know it! For information about our branch activities, please call Joyce Nicholson at 740-264-6238. Branch 51 Passaic, NJ by Marian Rubin Branch 51's Christmas party was held Dec. 4 at the American-Hungarian Club in Garfield, N.J. Magic by Marco entertained the crowd with a variety of specialty magic tricks. Jolin is still trying to figure out how Marco got his dollar bill inside the orange. The magic was enjoyed by both the children and the adults. We also enjoyed some Christmas carols and a visit from Santa Claus. Santa spent time with each child. The children received gifts from the branch and McDonald's gift cards from the Home Office. The adults enjoyed receiving their 2017 calendars with the pictures from all the other branches. The event was followed by pizza and soft drinks. Thanks to the WPA Board of Directors and the Home Office for their support. A special "thank you" to everyone who helped to make this a very enjoyable afternoon. Before the party, our branch held its election of officers for the years 2017 and 2018. Reelected were: Ernest J. Mozer Jr., president; Marian Rubin, treasurer; Christine Baldyga, secretary; and Marta Smith and John Mozer, auditors. The officers agreed that a Mass for deceased members of the branch would be held on March 11 at St. Stephen's Church in Passaic, N.J. We wish everyone a happy and healthy new year.
