Branch News Branch 14 meetings are held on the first Wednesday of the month beginning at 7:00 p.m. at the Bethlen Hall of The First Hungarian Reformed Church, 14530 Alexander Road, Walton Hills. Our meeting schedule for the remainder of the year is as follows: April 5, May 3, Sept. 6, Nov. 1 and Dec. 6. WPA Branch 14 adult members and guests are welcome to attend the branch meetings. Also mark your calendars for the Branch 14 Christmas Party and Breakfast with Santa to be held Saturday, Dec. 2. Other WPA and branch events in 2017 include: • Saturday, July 1 - Hungarian Heritage Night with the Lake County Captains with fireworks after the game. WPA, the Hungarian Cultural Center of Northeastern Ohio and the Hungarian Heritage Museum are supporters of this event. More details to follow. • Saturday, Aug. 26 - The WPA Picnic at the Hungarian Cultural Center of Northeastern Ohio, located in Hiram, Ohio. Please support the WPFA Scholarship Foundation, which provides grants to eligible student WPA members. If you received a WPA scholarship, please donate to the fund, so that other young members can enjoy the same benefits you did. We extend our condolences to the family of Branch 14 Auditor Paul J. Varga, whose sudden passing on Feb. 17,2017, came as a shock to everyone. Paul loved his Hungarian heritage. He was active with Branch 14 and displayed the fraternal spirit by helping at the WPA Golf Tournament, the WPA Bowling Tournament, the WPA Picnic and the Branch 14 Christmas party. May God bless his wife Anna Marie, his children and their spouses, and grandsons at this difficult time. May Paul rest in peace. The officers of Branch 14 extend our sympathy to those Branch 14 and WPA members who have recently lost a loved one. Get well wishes are being sent to all of our Branch 14 and WPA members as well as our friends, who might be feeling under the weather. We send out get well wishes to Branch 14 members Dante Parete and Michelle Day and to WPA members and friends, Betty and A1 Var go, Marilyn Schmidt and Arlene Csornán. We send super charged get well wishes, prayers and God's healing power to National Director Albert Frate who continues rehabilitation at home. Please keep them and all of our members in your prayers, and we hope to see everyone at WPA events. Happy birthday and happy anniversary wishes are being sent to all of our branch members and Home Office staff who are celebrating an April/May birthday and/or anniversary. Remember, Branch 14 members having news to share about themselves or family members can reach me at RichSaro@att.net or at 1-440- 248-9012. As always, please remember to keep in touch with someone you haven't seen or talked with in a long time. Don't let the opportunity pass you by. Pick up the phone and/or plan a visit. Branch 18 Lincoln Park, MI by Barbara A. House Happy Easter! He is risen! Alleluia! Welcome spring! Allergies are in full bloom. I hope your winter was as good as ours in Michigan. I paid my snow removal person two times this entire winter. I hope that doesn't mean we will have snow in July. Only kidding..! think. Welcome three new Branch 18 members: Dylan Sabo (thank you George Sabo), Faith Mishler and Robin Schexnayder (thank you Wanda Gall). Many thanks to all of you for thinking of WPA and me for all your insurance needs. Remember, we are offering our Guaranteed Issue program for a limited time. Call your agent; this deal is too good to miss. The annual Hungarian Arts Club White Rose Ball was another giant success. Thank you to all who worked so hard. Thank you also to all the wonderful members who came from near and far to attend the ball. There is no other group that has regularly supported the ball like WPA members, Board members and officers have for so many years. Thank you. You know my feelings: without you, this event will cease to exist. We won't let that happen. Thank you also to Steve Szatmári and his crew at the Hungarian Rhapsody for again preparing a wonderful Hungarian meal for our WPA guests. It was delicious. Branch 18 has resumed our monthly meetings. It was so good to see everyone again. Our next meeting is April 26 at 6:00 p.m. at the Hungarian American Cultural Center on Goddard in Taylor. We are working on new trips and on what we want to do for Join Hands Day. Come and share your ideas. WILLIAM PENN LIFE 0 April 2017 0 21 National Director David M.
