Branch News ABOVE: Twin brothers Elmer W. and John S. Toth in the days of their youth. Both would grow to be prominent figures at Branch 89 and in WPA, with Elmer eventually serving as Vice Chair of the WPA Board of Directors. The brothers, both deceased, would have been 89 years old this month. RIGHT: Branch 89 member Lauren Finikiotis signs her National Letter of Intent Nov. 9 to continue her academic and athletic careers at The College of William & Mary. Branch Vice President Mark Maskarinec and branch member Rev. Lisa Kerestesi presented three Holiday Baskets to several branch members in our community. Our branch will present additional Holiday Baskets this month to the 8th Avenue Ministries Program and to another deserving branch member. We also will be supporting the Coins for Charity Collection recently established by Rev. Kerestesi. This quarter's donations will go to the Rainbow Kitchen. As we approach the holiday season, it is important to remember all those in need. Do something to brighten someone's day. On another positive note, we are pleased to announce that our very own Branch President, John S. Toth Jr. (a.k.a. Chef János,) has agreed to make gulyás for our first fundraising project of the New Year. Gulyás will be made at the First Hungarian Reformed Church of Homestead and orders will be taken. Further information will be announced in future branch reports. We will also accept donations of take-out containers and the necessary ingredients for making gulyás: meat, potatoes and vegetables. No donation is too small. Please check back or contact us to place your orders. There's nothing better on a cold day than a good bowl of gulyás. We at Branch 89 wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Branch 129 Columbus, OH by Debbie Lewis Warmest greetings to all from Columbus, Ohio.
