I can't believe I'm saying that. It seems as if it were only yesterday that we were experiencing temperatures in the 90s. I am writing this before our 38th General Convention in order to meet the deadline. So, I will tell you all about the Convention next month. On Sept. 24, WPA and I lost a very special friend when Roger G. Nagy lost his long battle with pancreatic cancer. He promised to be at our Convention, and I know he was. Rest in peace, my dear and loyal friend and supporter. You will be missed and always loved. Thank you to all who offered their condolences after we lost our Gabby on Sept. 9. Those who know us know that she was more than a pet. We believe we will all be together again. Thank you so much. Now, I have to introduce you to Abigail "Abbie." She is a standard poodle who will grow to be 60 to 65 pounds. She is not Gabby, but she is getting there. It has been 15 years since we had a puppy. Need I say more? Welcome, Abbie. Special hello to Julia Maslanik. It was lovely to speak to you. Enjoy your copies of William Penn Life. Thank you to Judy Chakey for helping us. Special hello also to the Rt. Rev. Koloman K. Ludwig, Bishop of the Calvin Synod. We wish you a successful meeting. Always nice to hear from you. The Hungarian American Cultural Center hosted a successful pig roast. Thank you to all who do all they can to keep us going strong. Congratulations to the Rev. Barnabas Kiss and his many parishioners who helped make Holy Cross Hungarian Catholic Church's 110th anniversary Mass and dinner a day we will never forget. Thank you also to WPA for all its support. People attended from all over and made many new memories. The Hungarian Reformed Church of Allen Park is preparing for its Szüreti Bál on Nov. 14. It will be catered by the Rhapsody and will feature a live band. I hope to see many of you at this event. Very special thanks to Judy Schonek and Helen Sryniawski for always having WPA in our many charities. You always have us in your hearts. Happy November birthday to my mom, Irene Korpák, 93. We love you. Happy birthday wishes also go to Doris Schvarckopf, Anita Kosaski, Eleanor Kender, Eileen Gonzales, Jerry Hauser, Mary Ann Kelly- Lovasz, Steve Evans, Alyssa Trunzo, Bob Bisceglia, Denise Hurley and Doug Truesdell. Every one of you is very special. Have a wonderful day. Get well wishes go to Mike Adorján, Olga Wansa, George Schvarckopf, Joe Csereklye and Helen Molnár. We send you lots of love and prayers. Get well soon. Good and happy cruising to Joe and Wanda Gall. Please remember all our deceased members and their families in your prayers, especially, Loretta Adorján, Linda Marcellus, Stephen Popp Jr. and Frank Gasparovich. May they rest in peace. We at Branch 18 are busy preparing for our annual Christmas party to be held Nov. 22. It will be at the P.R.C.U. hall on Oak Street in Wyandotte. All are invited, but Santa needs to know how many children will be attending so he can have presents for all. Invitations will be in the mail for all our juvenile members. Hope to see you all there. My thought for the month: It really is a wonderful life. There will be times of trouble, but those always pass. There are always more joys than disappointments, more opportunities than difficulties, more bright sides than dark. Always remember, when one door closes, another door opens. Enter. If you have news to share or insurance questions, please call me anytime at 313-418-5572 or 734-782- 4667. Enjoy the beautiful weather before winter arrives. I have been told a mild winter is predicted. We will believe that when we see it. Branch 28 Youngstown, OH by Kathy Novak Wow! It's November already. The holidays will soon be here. With that thought in mind, invitations will be arriving this month for the annual branch family Christmas party, which will be held Saturday, Dec. 5, at the Aut Mori Grotto hall. In conjunction with the party, we'll be holding our holiday scholarship raffle. A wonderful Mass of celebration marked the 110th anniversary of Holy Cross Hungarian Catholic Church in Detroit. Following Mass, there was a delicious dinner and a brief program commemorating this milestone. The Schauer family was traveling here and there last month, showing Frank's brother and sister-in-law from Hungary some of the sites in the northeastern States and Canada. They spent about three weeks here, William Penn Life ° November 2015 0 21
