Jóban - rosszban az egylet szíve együttver tagjaival, adja az Isten, hogy a WPA tovább fejlődjék, erősödjék és hivatásának tovább tehessen eleget. Levett kalappal gratulálok a 128. év fordóluján! ‘In union with God’ 1886-2014 WPA is celebrating its 128th anniversary, thanks to the efforts of the Association's leaders and members. What an accomplishment: 128 years is a long period of time in the lives of Hungarian Americans as well as American society. Our members, our Hungarian brothers and sisters in the old country, orphans, students, churches and you, the reader, can attest that fraternal societies, like good parents, always give. In good times and bad, our heart beats to the rhythm of our members. Our current guaranteed issue life insurance program, which helps many people with their life insurance needs, is just one example. And so it is that we hand over our future to our Almighty God as WPA continues to evolve, strengthen and further its mission to meet the demands of our members in this ever-changing world. We tip our hats to you. Congratulations, WPA, on your 128 th Anniversary! Magyar Matters Hungarian Room Committee offers taste of Magyar culture at open house PITTSBURGH - The Hungarian Room Committee offered a taste of Magyar culture to guests attending a Holiday Open House hosted Dec. 8 by the Nationality Rooms at the University of Pittsburgh. The theme of the Hungarian Room Committee table was "Budai Cukrázda" (Buda Sweet Shop). The committee raised $544 from the sale of baked goods, coffee and other items. Among the WPA members helping that day were National Vice President-Treasurer Diane M. Torma, National Director Katherine E. Novak, her father Steve Novak and J. Alan Gardocky. The committee also received donations of cookies and money from: William Penn Association; WPA Vice Chair William J. Bero; WPA Vice Chair Nickolas M. and Shirley Kotik; WPA National Directors Katherine E. Novak and Roger G. Nagy; WPA members Kati Csornán, and Violet and Ernest Sarosi; and The Bethlen Communities. Among those stopping by to visit the table were WPA National Vice President-Fraternal Endre & Arlene Csornán, Joseph Csornán, Connie Shotton Shaffer, and Alex and Margaret Patho. Many guests reminisced about their youth. They seemed delighted as they sampled the traditional baked goods. Several people said they sought out the Hungarian table just for the coffee. The committee sold every cake and pastry it had to offer. Committee Chair Kati Csornán said the committee is looking forward to updating the Christmas decorations for the Hungarian Room next year. The WPA Board of Directors has already offered to buy a new tree for the room, she said. The committee will also be sending out information about donations of ornaments for the Christmas tree in memory or honor of a loved one.
