In Memóriám ESTHER SOPRONYI AUSTIN, TX - Esther (Mayorchak) Sopronyi, 89, a member of WPA Branch 249 Dayton, Ohio, passed away Nov. 7, 2013, in Austin, Texas, following a brief illness. Born in Scranton, Pa., Esther moved to Dayton at age 16 to live and work with relatives. Members in the Dayton area may remember Esther as the woman who cooked the delicious Hungarian food at the M&G Grill, the family business where both she and her late husband Michael worked for many years. She later went on to work as a waitress at fine restaurants in Dayton, Harrisburg, Pa., and San Antonio, Tex., where the family moved in 1966. Not one to sit idly at home after retiring, she joined several bowling leagues and volunteered at Northeast Baptist Hospital in San Antonio where she earned numerous awards for her more than 25 years of dedicated service. Esther is survived by her sons Michael Jr. (Judy) of Harrisburg, Pa., and Robert (Janet) of Austin; three granddaughters, Kristin, Erin and Lauren; and many nieces and nephews. She adored her three granddaughters and loved to cook Hungarian dishes for her family. She was devoted to her family and church. Esther had many fond memories of a trip she and her husband took to Hungary to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebraterd Nov. 16 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, San Antonio. Interment was at Holy Cross Cemetery, San Antonio. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the American Heart Association, American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice. May she rest in peace.
