In Memóriám PETE CHRISTOPHER LEECH BURG, PA - Pete Christopher, 88, a member of Branch 296 Springdale, Pa., passed away April 22, 2014, at the Platinum Ridge Center for Rehabilitation and Healing, Brackenridge, Pa. He was born Feb. 23, 1926, in East Vandergrift, Pa., the son of the late Peter and Theresa (Paris) Christopher. He lived in Leechburg, Pa., all of his life and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the South Pacific. He worked as an overhead crane operator for Allegheny Ludlum in West Leechburg for 40 years, retiring in 1988. He was a member of Christ the King Parish in Gilpin Township, the Allegheny Ludlum Retirees, Knights of Columbus Assembly 928 New Kensington (Pa.), and Leechburg Elks 377. He also was a member for more than 50 years of the Leechburg Volunteer Fire Department. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Julia (Balia) Christopher; brothers, James, Thomas and Eugene; and sister Theresa Komaniak. He is survived by his daughter, Cynthia Ann Doran of Steamboat Springs, Colo.; grandson Brendan Christopher Doran; sisters-in-law Helen Balia of Leechburg, Elizabeth Fanelli of Leechburg and Janet Christopher of Vandergrift; brother-in-law Arthur Morvái of Barberton, Ohio; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated April 26,2014, at Christ the King Church with the Rev. James Loew, OSB, as celebrant. Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery, Gilpin Township, with military honors. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society (PA Western Region) or Christ the King Parish.
