Judit also works at the WPA Home Office as secretary to the National Vice President-Fraternal. Branch 226 McKeesport, PA by Judit Ganchuk Happy birthday and anniversary to all our members celebrating their special day in June! Hope everyone had a wonderful and blessed Easter with friends and family. We enjoyed helping with the new WPA Easter Basket program. Remember to keep our military, here and abroad, in your thoughts and prayers. Hope you had a safe and great Memorial Day, too. Always remember those men and women who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces. I want to thank the branch officers and members who attend our monthly meetings and thank them for their time and effort. We had a good year. Now, it's time for a summer break from our monthly meetings. See you this fall. In April, I wrote about Branch 226 member Shelby Harris and her HotCheer AllStars team from Elizabeth, Pa. They were traveling to the World Cheerleading Competition down in Florida. Well, Shelby and her team made it back safe and sound with their title: ninth in the world! Kathryn Makay, a member of the William Penn Association Magyar Folk Dancers, was also on the team. Congrats to all the girls; you earned it! Another Branch 226 member, Rylee Heyz, and her cheerleading team are catching up and winning more and more titles. Keep up the great work! We wish the best to the golfers at the 31st Annual WPA Golf Tournament and Scholarship Days on July 18 and 19. On a joyful note, I married my sweetheart and fellow branch member, Perry Ganchuk, in March. We thank everyone for their well wishes. It's a great feeling to know you are loved, day after day. Branch 249 Dayton, OH by Mark Schmidt Well, that was a short spring. The weather jumped right into the hot temperatures. It's strange when you think that three or four short months ago, we were all complaining about the cold and snow. Now, we have the heat. It makes you thankful for air conditioning. Speaking of heat... We had a blast at the WPA Annual Bowling Tournament. We bowled with National Vice President-Secretary Jerry Hauser and his wife Debbie. I had met them before, but it was good to spend more time with them and get to know them better. I found out Jerry is a dam good bowler, and we managed to finish in third place. The lunch was delicious as always; we had lobster tails again. I hope that is a new Hungarian tradition! Were there any big winners at the casino or for the Kentucky Derby? May also brought some local news. Several local members, including Branch President Michele Daley-LaFlame, returned from a trip to Hungary in late May. I can't wait 24 0 June 2014 0 William Penn Life
