Puzzle Contest #102 with Lizzy Cseh r — — — — — — — — — — — ~i Saints & Martyrs Boldog Szt. Mikulást és Karácsonyt/ Happy St. Nicholas Day (on Dec. 6) and Merry Christmas! This is the most wonderful time of the year. When I attended the WPA Picnic-A Great Fraternal Fest in September, a distinguished looking lady from the Bethlehem, Pa., area approached me and expressed her approval concerning the topics selected as themes for each puzzle contest. Her name was Margaret. Unfortunately, I never got a last name and/or any other details about her. When mingling with well over a thousand attendees at the picnic, personal interaction often times proves to be fast and furious. During our brief conversation, Margaret suggested a puzzle be created listing the saints of Hungarian origin, kinship or regal marriage. In researching the topic, I found several canonized saints with a Magyar connection. Some are obvious, while others were a bit more obscure. The familiar names speak for themselves, but several of these lesser known saints have unique stories that were often times an integral part of the development of Hungarian history. In the spirit of the Christmas season, I present to you the December 2013 word search. There are 21 CLUES in this puzzle. PLEASE NOTE: For those clues which include the word “of’ in the name, the word “of’ is NOT found in the puzzle. For example, the clue “Agnes (of) Bohemia” would be found in the puzzle as “Agnes Bohemia.” To learn more about each name mentioned in this puzzle, I suggest you log onto the following website: www. hungariancatholicmission.com. Locate and highlight the horizontal menu item, “FAITH.” Other interesting subjects concerning Hungarian culture can be found on this website as well. Good luck, and allow me to wish each of you a Happy New Year 2014. See you next year! (Boldog új évet 2014!)
