The Schauer family-all members ofWPA Branch 28-celebrate the recent graduation ofJeremiah from L aBelle (Fla.) High School. Joining Jeremiah on his special day are his mother Elizabeth, father Frank and sister Rachel. Happy Independence Day! Thank you to all the members of our armed forces who secure our independence. Thank you to all who made our bowling event another success. I heard nothing but high praise from all who attended. I never knew lobster would make such an impression (I'm allergic.) The pictures I've seen are definite memory makers. Thank you, Helen Sryniawski, for upholding Branch 18's winning streak. Thank you to all of you officers and employees who again went above and beyond the call of duty. Now, we go golfing. Hope to see you all there. That will be followed by our wonderful Hungarian Heritage Experience the first week of August. I will be there for a few days. We had such a great time last year. We were completely booked by March this year. That is the nicest compliment we could receive. Mark your calendars for our wonderful WPA Picnic in September. I am taking reservations for our bus to take you there. Your cost is $90 per person. This includes the bus, hotel, admission to the picnic, meals, drinks, entertainment and a ton of fraternalism. Please call me immediately to reserve your seat. The picnic will be followed by our wonderful trip to Europe. I can't wait. My roommate this time is Beata Császár, one of my very active members. Look out, Hungary! Here we come! Welcome, new members Richard and Kathleen Szabó. Thank you also to Barbara Major for remembering WPA and me for her insurance needs. Special thanks to Judy Schonek. Special hello to Pam George, Alan Szabó and Karen Deren. Our Branch 18 Charity-of-the- Month was won by Tibor Deri. He chose St. Vincent de Paul. He remembered them for all the help he received when he emigrated from Hungary. We also supported Our Lady of the Angels' church festival. We donated all the hot dogs and onions. Get well wishes to Janet Totsky, Eileen Gonzales, the Rev. Daniel Borsay, the Rev. John McKinsey, Michael Adorján, Irene Charles and Doug Truesdell. We hope you are all Branch 26 Sharon, PA by Barbi Tew On May 18, several members of Branch 26 took part in the Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community in Pittsburgh. This year, the walk benefitted 68 health and human services organizations. Member Connor Ross rode his adaptive bike and participated in the 5K walk, representing Variety: The Children's Charity. It was a perfect day and a fun time for all who participated. We congratulate all recent graduates from both high school and college. May your dreams take you far. Branch 28 Youngstown, OH by Kathy Novak Happy Summer! We hope that while everyone enjoys the fireworks on the 4th of July, we take time to give thanks for the real reason for this celebration: independence and freedom. Hats off to Endre Csornán, Dora McKinsey and all those who prepared and volunteered at the Tri-State Picnic. The weather was perfect: a little breezy, but dry. As always, the food was great, and there were more than enough treats to pick from. A traditional WPA affair-good food and good times with friends. The fire pit was busy as at any Hungarian picnic. Thanks, again, WPA for providing this wonderful day for us. Happy retirement to Jackie Prologo. She has been a dedicated teacher in the Youngstown Catholic School system and has decided she wants to spend her "golden years" with her family. As a treat, Jackie and her husband Frank will be traveling to Switzerland in July to visit their son and daughter-in-law. Graduation wishes go to all our graduating members. We especially commend Caitlin Tarcy, who was chosen to be one of two featured speakers at the spring commencement of Youngstown State University. Caitlin graduated this spring from YSU with a doctorate 16 ° July 2013 ° William Penn Life
