Branch News Branch 19 New Brunswick, NJ by Evelyn Bodnar The weekend of April 20 to 22 was very busy here. On April 21 there was the Carousel Ball attended by about 70 WPA members and staff, honoring Pete Charles, our National President. It was a successful fund raiser for the American Hungarian Foundation. I believe they raised more money than ever. With the economy as it is, they need the money. The next day, many of the WPA Board members attended worship and coffee hour at the Bayard Street Presbyterian Church. We were so honored with their presence. Chair of the Board Barbara House spoke about William Penn. Later that afternoon we celebrated Elizabeth Bodnar's 90th birthday. She is the mother of the Rev. Joseph Bodnar. Her son Steve came from Wisconsin, and her grandchildren came from Ohio, Colorado, and New Jersey. Have a happy, healthy summer. If you have any questions about your WPA life insurance or annuity certificates, please call me at 732-893- 1158. Branch 27 Toledo, OH by Robert A. Around noon the tools were put away and the picnic began. A wonderful buffet table of food was available, highlighted by the BBQ chicken, hamburgers, and hot dogs grilled to perfection by Jeff DeSantes and John Toth. A nice group endured the smoke around the fire pits to make some delicious bacon breads. Hats off to Endre Csornán, Dora McKinsey and the committee who prepared this event. This May and June, Frank and Mary Schauer had a house guest, their granddaughter Rachel Schauer. She spent some time relaxing after her job experience as a professional nanny in France for several months and before she travels to Germany for the beginning of her college years. Speaking of college, we would like to congratulate previous scholarship recipient Gloria Purton Stack on receiving her law degree. She will be taking the bar exam in July. Way to go, Attorney Stack! Best of luck to Susan Szabó Koulianos with her new job as principal of Harding Elementary School in Youngstown. Special note of thanks for all the good thoughts sent my way pertaining to my recent injury, especially to Marlene Panigal and Shelly Toth for their special help during my recuperation. Looking forward to some fun in the sun at the golf outing. Not only do we get to have a good time with friends, but we get to support the WPA scholarship foundation. Reminder: call Steve at 330-746- 7704 or Frank at 330-549-2933 to reserved your seat on the bus traveling to the WPA Picnic-A Great Fraternal Fest on Sept. 8.
