For Starters Letter from the Chair of the Board Happy New Year to all our Wonderful Members. The year 2010 has come and gone, and we look fon/vard to a new and exciting 2011. I want to thank our wonderful Official Family, our super employees and you, our loyal members, for all of the faith you have in William Penn Association. We are approaching a very exciting time. In February, William Penn Association reaches a magnificent milestone. We are celebrating our I 25th anniversary. We have so many exciting things planned to help commemorate this wonderful occasion. Plan on attending our Golf Tournament in July or our gala event planned in September just prior to our Convention. We also have many surprises planned for the WPA Picnic in September. Many of our branches also have celebratory events planned. We plan all these events with you in mind, but we always have the next 125 years in our sights. May your homes be blessed, your efforts rewarded and your lives enriched by God. Happy New Year! Barbara A. House, Chair of the Board Six young WPA members from Branch 8340 Baltimore shared their fraternal spirit this past Christmas with soldiers serving in the Middle East. They organized and sent care packages filled with snacks, toiletries, Bibles and inspirational bookmarks. Participating in this project were: (l-r) Sarah Malloy, Connor Olson, Garrett Walker, Ava Walker (front), Haley Malloy and Kelsey Olson. All six are the grandchildren of Vice Chairman of the Board E. £. (AI) and Betty Vargo. In keeping with a Christmastime tradition, spouses and friends of WPA Board members led a project sharing the Fraternal Spirit with young patients at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. Early in December, they delivered toys, presents and gift cards provided by the members of the WPA Board of Directors, the National Officers and their spouses. But, most importantly, they brought joy to many children undergoing treatment for serious illnesses. Helping with this special project were: (l-r) Mark Schmidt, Betty Vargo, Becky Williams, Marguerite McNelis, Zita Prowse and Nancy Toth. William Penn Life 0 January 2011 0 3
