Karácsony recipes

Boldog Karácsony (Merry Christmas) to all WPA Members. Remember to patronize those Magyar-American butchers, bakers, restaurants and stores that bring us those tasty foods and beautiful gift items. This month’s wordsearch is a puzzle within a puzzle. I am listing the ingredients for two different recipes: one is for a baked dessert or sweet item; the other is for an oftentimes disdained but none the less wonderfully flavored concoction that is made primarily during the cold winter months. This truly Magyar culinary tradition is considered a meat staple. As a little girl, I remember my Nagypapa Cseh preparing this dish a few days before Christmas. He, along with my Aunt Jenny, would enjoy huge bowls of it after mass on Christmas Eve.

There are 17 clues to find in the puzzle. Because I mixed up the ingredients for the two recipes, you will have to decipher what food item goes with each in the creation of these two Magyar delicacies. I will reveal in the January 2012 issue of William Penn Life just what each recipe was.
