Branch News The children of Branch 226 enjoyed a visit from Santa during the branch’s Christmas party. by all who attended. We requested that attendees bring nonperishable food items to be distributed to a food bank. A total of 83 food items totaling 111 pounds was collected. This year, the food was delivered to the Northside Common Ministries Food Pantry on Brighton Road, just a few blocks from the Home Office. This ministry is a non-profit, community based organization established in 1982 to meet the increasing needs of the homeless population. It operates an emergency shelter for men, the food pantry and a permanent housing program for men with disabilities. The need is great, so our donations will be put to good use. Many thanks to those who brought food donations to the party. Happy birthday to all those celebrating a birthday this month. Branch 8121 St. Marys, PA by Mary Lou Schutz Our December branch meeting was postponed for a week due to flooding and a severe snow storm in our area. We finally gathered Dec. 8 on a cold but clear night at the Green Lite Restaurant for a short business meeting and our annual Christmas party. We received a thank you note from the Christian Food Bank for our branch's donation during the Thanksgiving holiday. We also donated a Holiday Basket to the Christian Food Bank during the Christmas season. Election of branch officers for the year 2011 were held, and all 2010 officers were reelected, with one exception. We have a new branch secretary, Melinda Marconi. Welcome, Melinda. We sent Christmas cards to all our members who are ill. After the business portion of the meeting, members and guests enjoyed our Christmas party. All enjoyed the gifts from the Home Office and the table favors. Branch President Mary Lou Schutz also had a small "thank you" gift for all present. The children were given gifts, as well. We also decided to send a donation to the Christian Food Bank in lieu of a gift exchange this year. Everyone had a delicious meal of their choice and spent an enjoyable time in conversation and fellowship. A special thank you to the Home Office for the gifts. They added a nice surprise to the evening. A blessed new year to all. Our next branch meeeting will be held Wednesday, April 6.
