For Starters Connection to WPA began with father’s job with Rákóczi THIS IS A STORY about how my life was touched by the Rákóczi Aid Association. When I was a young girl in the 1930's, my dad, Stephen Myers of Charles, Pa., was an agent [for Rákóczi], I remember when he would go to Bridgeport, Conn., for the conventions. He would take our family, drop us off in Perth Amboy, N.J., at my uncle's, and go on to Bridgeport. When I was 15 or 16, dad would make his collections from the members, and he would have me total the money to make sure there would be no mistakes when he sent the money to the Home Office. I don't remember when dad gave up his agent's job. I left home in 1940 and came to Cleveland, Ohio. God bless him. Everybody loved my dad.
