Victims of Hungary’s Red Sludge Flood Need Your Help William Penn Association is calling on its members and friends to aid those left homeless or otherwise in need following the red sludge floods which swept through portions of western Hungary in early October. The toxic red sludge killed nine people, left hundreds of homes uninhabitable and destroyed the livelihoods of many Hungarians living in seven towns near Ajka, located about 100 miles southwest of Budapest. To aid those affected by this latest disaster, WPA has established a special matching fund which will help relief agencies in Hungary to provide food, clothing, shelter and other necessities. All donations collected will be matched dollar-for-dollar by WPA. “Earlier this year, our members and friends displayed their Fraternal Spirit when they helped those affected by historic flooding in northeastern Hungary,” said Endre Csornán, National Vice President-Fraternal. “Unfortunately, another disaster has devastated another area of Hungary, leaving many men, women and children in need of life’s basic necessities. And, once again, the need for assistance is great and immediate.” If you would like to aid those affected by the red sludge flooding, please make your tax-deductible donation payable to “William Penn Association Foundation” and send it to: Red Sludge Relief William Penn Association Foundation 709 Brighton Road Pittsburgh, PA 15233 Thank you for sharing your Fraternal Spirit with those in need.
