Yes, Eastern Standard Time starts Sunday, Nov. 7, at 2:00 a.m. At the same time, remember to change the batteries in all your smoke detectors. Branch 8114 Clarion, PA by Noreen Fritz, FIC, LUTCF (in Pittsburgh) Everyone at William Penn Association and all the members of Branch 8114 extends their deepest sympathy to Gordon and Dottie Rice and their family on the loss of their son William G. Rice. May God be with you at this time of great sorrow and pain. The branch steak fry was successful as usual. Many thanks to branch officers Kevin Slike, Bob Donahue and Art Aaron. Thanks for hanging in there and planning this event that so many people enjoy every year. The 50/50 prize was won by Frank Bauer. We missed Clair Bauer at the steak fry. He was fishing in Canada with friends, and we welcome him home. Member Ed Steiner and wife Miriam recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Congratulations to this happily married couple and every good wish to both of you for health, happiness and many more years of togetherness— each year happier than the last. Last month, I was a little too busy to meet the deadline for the September issue so I am sending a happy belated birthday wish to branch members that had a September birthday. I hope that you were treated special as the special person that you are. The WPA Picnic-A Great Fraternal Fest was really a fun blast! I was so happy to see E)on and Louise Schmader and their family at Scenic View for the picnic. Don and Louise's son-in-law Gary Rhoads won the second place door prize. Diane and Gary have three sons: Adam practices physical therapy in Florida; Gabe works as a first line manager; and Donald is an airplane pilot. Every year the picnic draws more and more people. Hoping to see more of our Clarion members at the picnic next year. Branch members celebrating October birthdays include Barbara Bauer, Julie Schill, Carl Beckwith, Rochelle Beckwith, Ryan Hartle, Art Aaron, Richard Petrotte, Edward Steiner, John Kuzilla, Myles Callihan, Edward Dechant, James Bauer, Kurt Huefner, Carl Helper, Christopher Black and Joseph Groner. Wishing you a happy birthday and a happy everyday after! Congratulations to all the students that have received WPA scholarship grants and best wishes on your studies as you come closer to pursuing your dreams. Schutz Members of Branch 8121 gathered for a regular business meeting on Sept. 1 in St. Marys. We were happy to donate a "Basket of St. Marys" as a prize for the Chinese auction held during the WPA Picnic-A Great Fraternal Fest. We hope our fellow members and guests at the picnic took a chance on winning the basket filled with products from St. Marys. We signed and mailed cards to Branch Vice President Alice Rigard and Branch Treasurer Margaret Marconi. You are in our thoughts and prayers.
