Members respond with donations to plea for Hungarian flood relief PITTSBURGH -- In yet another heartwarming exhibition of the true Fraternal spirit, WPA members have begun contributing to our effort to aid the victims of the floods which devastated large portions of Hungary in May and June of this year. In our August issue, we announced WPA has established a special matching fund for the relief effort, with WPA matching all moneys contributed by our members, dollar for dollar, up to $5,000. All funds raised through this appeal will be hand-delivered by WPA representatives to officials in Hungary working in the hardest hit areas. The Association is in contact with the Hungarian government to make sure your donations go to the people experiencing the greatest need. That need is great, widespread and immediate. A state of emergency was declared in eight of Hungary's 19 counties as residents in some 265 towns were affected. Farmers suffered the worst of the deluge. Officials estimated about five million acres of farmland were destroyed, causing an estimated $400 million damage to the farming sector. If you would like to aid those affected by this tragedy, please make your tax-deductible donation payable to "William Penn Association Foundation" and send it to: Hungary Flood Relief, William Penn Association Foundation, 709 Brighton Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15233. □ 2 0 September 2010 0 William Penn Life
