Branch News Young members of Branch 18 gather during the branch’s annual family Christmas party. Vice Chairman of the Board Barbara House welcomes Louie Krajcz, a special friend of the WPA, to the Branch 18 family Christmas party. Branch 13 Trenton, NJ by Elsie H. Radvany Branch 13 held its annual meeting and family Christmas party on Sunday, Dec. 6, at the Hungarian Reformed Church Auditorium in Trenton. Branch President Frank J. Radvany welcomed the members to the meeting and party. He held a short business meeting during which branch officers for the year 2010 were elected. Unanimously elected were: Frank J. Radvany, president; Dr. John Radvany, vice president; Elsie H. Radvany, secretary; Athony C. Beke, treasurer; and Dr. Eileen Smith, auditor. Arlene Gordon, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank J. Radvany, duly installed the newly elected officers. The officers did not accept honorariums, a practice they have followed for many years. President Radvany extended sincere congratulations to two members of Branch 13 — Michael Gordon and Thomas Radvany-as well as all members who received WPA scholarship grants in 2009. He also introduced Michael's brother Andrew and his friend Kristin Cannon. Andrew received WPA scholarship grants while attending the University of Pittsburgh. He graduated with honors and earned his degree in electrical engineering and is now employed by the Eaton Corp. in Atlanta. The family Christmas party began with a delicious buffet which included the traditional kolbász and head cheese, pastries and refreshments. Our sincere thanks go to Margo and Anthony Beke, Olga and John Radvany and Elsie Radvany for the fine effort they put forth in arranging and preparing for the party. Following the luncheon, door prizes were distributed along with WPA goodie bags filled with candy, cookies, nuts and items supplied by the Home Office. Everyone received a WPA calendar. Our sincere thanks and appreciation is extended to the Home Office for the generous subsidy towards our Christmas party. President Radvany extended Christmas greetings on behalf of the Board of Directors, National Officers, branch officers and members of Branch 13. He wished all a blessed and joyous Christmas and a happy, healthy new year. Ward Branch 14 wound up the year with another marvelous children's Christmas party. About 125 children attended the event along with their families. There were many parents with young children who recalled attending the party when they were children. Seeing all the happy families enjoying the fraternal atmosphere epitomizes all that WPA is about. Sparkles the Clown was a hit with the children, doing her talented face painting and body designs. Santa, his elf and her helper distributed the gifts. They bore a striking resemblance to branch members Richard Jacob, Nancy Borisz and Rosemarie Borisz. Pizza, ice cream, cookies and beverages were enjoyed by all. This annual event is the most anticipated and highly-attended event on our branch calendar. It continues to grow which is indicative of the great future WPA has in store. Branch member Donna Williamson of Sandusky, Ohio, is quite a budding entrepreneur. Last June, her nephew asked her to make comhole bags. The idea of personalizing them with anything from sports teams' logos to Elvis caught on quickly just through word-of-mouth. Her son Andy Raycher makes comhole boards and will paint them to coordinate with the bags, for example, scarlet and grey for Ohio State or brown and orange for the William Penn Life, January 2010 15
