Branching Out with Endre Csornán fruit trees and winding streets. However, due to lack of job opportunities, the village is almost like a ghost town. The next morning, our schedule called for a tour in Tokay and a wine tasting in the 500- year- old historical Rákóczi cellar, which is the largest wine cellar in the region and was the eyewitness of historical events in our Hungarian history. As we departed from Tokay just before midday, we were headed to Nyíregyháza in the Sóstó Park. I decided to "babysit" Sándor and the busz (my knees were acting up). The group enjoyed the park; they toured the village, viewing different aspects of life, such as the bakery which made "mézes kalács" (which they were able to sample), the old schoolhouse and the barber shop. The group ended up at a shelter where they were treated to real "lekváros kalács" and endless wine. I'll have more highlights of our journey to Hungary next month.... [wpl] Endre Csornán, national vice president-fraternal, and his wife, Arlene, joined other members of our tour for a visit to the 500-year-old Rákóczi wine cellars in Hungary’s famous Tokay wine producing region.
