mention youth members of the MIM: We Need YOUR Help! Ever want to tell a grown up what to do? Well, here’s your chance! Many of your fellow youth members have told us you would like to have your own space in the William Penn Life. And that’s exactly what we intend to give you! Very soon we will introduce our new “Youth Section.” But, we want to make sure that our youth section gives you what you want. And, to do that, we need your help. We need YOU to tell us the kind of things YOU want to read about. Email your ideas to John E. And watch for YOUR new youth section coming soon!-------------------------------------Letters Recipient appreciates scholarship grant To my friends at William Penn, I am taking time out of my busy schedule to thank you for the scholarship grant I have received. Now, as my third year as a college student has come upon me, I continue to face more challenging work and expectations. I recently took an internship within my college, working in the university relations department writing news releases and articles and tracking media regarding my college. While this is great and very beneficial work towards my future, it also pays less than my other job. Due to this, I am now making less than what I was a year ago, while tuition costs continue to rise. It is for this reason that the generosity the William Penn has shown me has become so crucial in my studies and my successful, planned graduation from Ohio Dominican University. I want to thank you again for all the great things you have done for me and for many other college students just like me. The extra financial help you provide definitely helps keep us more motivated and provides us extra strength to propel through our studies. Thank you very much. Steven L. Nyeste Branch 129 Columbus, OH William Penn Fraternal Association Scholarship Foundation Recipient Profile THANKS TO MY grandparents, Jolán and Anthony Serets of Akron, Ohio, I learned about your scholarship program before I entered my freshman year at Salve Regina University. I received the award for several years while attending the university, and it was very helpful in offsetting the expense of tuition and room and board. Since graduating with a bachelor’s degree in accounting in 2005,1 have been working at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, managing the Kiwanis Pediatric Trauma Institute program. I am currently pursuing an MBA at the University of Massachusetts Boston that I plan to complete in early 2010.1 am a resident of Quincy, Mass., where I periodically do volunteer work for the financial literacy program at Quincy Community Action Programs. Throughout college, I was involved with various community service projects and plan to continue participating in similar efforts for the foreseeable future. Thank you for helping to ease the financial burden of attending college. Had it not been for my grandparents showing me your scholarship program and encouraging me to apply, my time at Salve Regina University would certainly have been more difficult financially.
