Branch 129 Columbus, OH by Árpád Sibrik We were happy to welcome to our March branch meeting, Endre Csornán, national vice presidentfraternal, and his wife Arlene. Mr. Csornán presented a report on the upcoming events being sponsored by the Home Office and spoke of other things of interest to the branches. This winter was cold and snowy. The driving was very hard for the older members. So happy spring is finally here. The branch lost a very special man recently Bela Kovach. Mr. Kovach, a well-known scientist, passed away after a short illness. Funeral services were held March 29 at the Hungarian Reformed Church with the Rev. Zsolt Otvos and the Rev. István Nyeste officiating. Afterwards, the Kovach family invited all to a reception at the Little Bear Golf Club. We offer our condolences to his wife of 50 years, Almást Bedrosian, his children and grandchildren. We lost a great man. Ferenc Relle was hospitalized recently with serious health problems. We hope he will be able to go home soon. The Cultural Club is planning a picnic at the Hungarian church. WPA members are invited to attend. Congratulations to Marge Boso for being elected to the WPA Board of Directors. For any life insurance or annuity needs, please call Árpád Sibrik at 614- 231-8024 or write him at 645 S. Kellner Road, Columbus, OH 43209. Branch 249 Dayton, OH by Michele LaFlame Well, it looks like spring has finally arrived here, or did I hear something about snow flurries from the weather man again? Oh, well. Even if we have snow flurries, it won't put a damper on our enthusiasm for wanting to spruce up our gardens at home and at our two Hungarian churches. Yes, this is a reminder not to forget about Join Hands Day on Saturday, May 3. We will be meeting at St. Stephen Hungarian Catholic Church, 1114 Troy St., at 8:30 a.m. We will have coffee and donuts, get ourselves organized and start work at 9:00 a.m, cleaning the yard and planting flowers and generally sprucing up the landscape. Then we will move to the Old Troy Pike Community Church, 4475 Troy Pike, to clean the yard and shelter, plant flowers and generally spruce up the landscape and finally have a picnic lunch provided by the WPA. We hope you can participate and request that you call Michele LaFlame at 937-278-5970 if you're planning to attend so we have enough food for everyone. Congratulations to one of our new members, Alisa Conley, for being on the Honor Roll this year at her school. Keep up the good work Alisa! REMINDER: Our next WPA meeting will be Aug. 24, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Stephen Church. A light lunch will be served. If you have any member news you would like to share with our William Penn readers, please call Michele LaFlame at 937-278-5970. William Penn Life, May 2008 17
