Magyar Matters Take time to smell the paprika Tour offers travelers a Summer Adventure in Hungary YOUNGSTOWN, OH - Members and friends of the WPA are invited to take a trip that they won't forget: A Summer Adventure in Hungary, June 28 to July 9. The tour, presented by Magyar Marketing of Youngstown, will take travelers to some of Hungary's most interesting, beautiful and historic sites, including three World Heritage sites: Hollókő, with a village of living traditions; Tokaj, Hungary's worldfamous wine region; and the Aggtelek karst region, featuring the largest stalactite system in Europe. The adventure begins with your arrival in Budapest where you will stay for five nights at the Hotel Erszébet. Over the next several days, you will visit the sites of the capital, Szentendre, the Citadel in Visegrád, Hollókő, the Herend porcelain by John L. Lovász PITTSBURGH ~ The Hungarian Room Committee of the University of Pittsburgh held their biennial meeting at the First Hungarian Reformed Church in the Hazelwood section of Pittsburgh on March 9. During the meeting, the events of the past year were discussed at which time it was annouced that the Committee has awarded a scholarship grant to Max Walko, a third-year student enrolled at the main campus of the University of Pittsburgh. Mr. Walko has enrolled in a seven-week course in Budapest and will be studing the Hungarian language and culture and the modernization of factory, Lake Balaton and Kalocsa. Then, it's off to Lillafüred where you will spend the next four nights at the Hotel Palota. From your base in Lillafüred, you will visit Aggtelek, Tokaj, Debrecen, Hortobágy and Kassa, Slovakia. On the last full day of the tour, you will enjoy stops at Lázár Equestrian Park to see the famous Lipizzaner horses and at the Royal Palace in Gödöllő before returing to Budapest for one last night. That evening's activities will include a delightful sunset dinner cruise on the Danube River. Beke, chairman; Elmer W. Toth, first vice chairman; Joseph Fabri, second vice chairman; Barbara A. House, secretary; Diane M. Torma, treasurer; Maria A. Bistey, controller; Tünde Freiwald, scholarship coordinator; and John L. Lovász, historian. Following the meeting, a traditional Hungarian dinner was served to Committee members and guests, which was enjoyed by all. Experience a true taste of Hungary at our annual camp PITTSBURGH - If you have always wanted to learn Hungarian, or if you wish to brush up on your Hungarian grammar, then you should attend the Hungarian Heritage Experience at Penn Scenic View, Rockwood, Pa., Aug. 5 to 11. Participants will receive a total of 25 hours (or more) of instruction from experienced teachers. The Experience will also take you on a fascinating journey with classmates who have the same desire to explore and share memories and experiences of our common Hungarian heritage. The program will include Hungarian history, geography, cooking, embroidery, music, dancing, sightseeing and more. The number of participants will be limited to 25 students.
