order your baked goods. I will tell you all about our trip to Hungary when I get back. We have 12 Branch 18 members going. I will look into planning another trip for next year. Let me know if you would be interested. Happy Halloween. Branch 28 Youngstown, OH by Kathy Novak As always, the WPA proves its greatness in being professional, efficient and experienced at expressing fratemalism by conducting a wonderful Convention. On behalf of my fellow Delegates Steve Novak and Frank Schauer, I wish to thank the Home Office for preparing and handling the Convention details. We also thank everyone responsible for allowing us this opportunity to attend the Convention and to participate in this important event for our Association. Congratulations to the new Board of Directors and the returning National Officers. We extend warmest wishes to the former National Directors who retired from the Board during the Convention. Their many years of service and dedication to the WPA are greatly appreciated. It was so nice to be able to get reacquainted with so many friends and to make new ones. Much work was accomplished and many social gatherings were provided during the three days of true fratemalism. It's hard to believe that, by the time you read this, the WPA Picnic-A Great Fraternal Fest will be a part of WPA's history. We look forward to sharing the adventures of Branch 28's trip to this event in our next branch article. Over the summer months, Joe and Julia Taylor had the privilege of having their great-grandson spend some time with them while he visited from Arizona. Get well wishes go out to all those under the weather, especially Vera Szőke, Dee Gran, Irene Nemeth and Irene Tomory. We hope to see some new faces at Branch News the October branch meeting, which will be held Monday, Oct. 15, at 6:30 p.m. at the Eat-'N-Park restaurant in Boardman, Ohio. We extend warm congratulations to all those celebrating a birthday or anniversary. We also extend our sincere sympathy to all those who have recently experienced the loss of a loved one. For answers to your questions about life insurance or annuities, please call Kathy Novak at 330-746- 7704 or Alan Szabó at 330-482-9994. Branch 76 Philadelphia, PA by Jack Tokár Since my last newsletter, I attended the WPA General Convention in Pittsburgh as the delegate from the Philadelphia area. Stephen Pokomy was the alternate who would have taken my place if I had been unable to g°The Convention went very smoothly; the committee structure eliminated many of the possibilities for lengthy discussion. I want to congratulate all those who were elected as officers. It was a pleasure to see so many of my WPA friends, particularly A1 and Betty Vargo and their family, Anthony and Marguerite Beke, Barbara House, Michael Tomcsak and Joan Mauerman. Sadly, many old friends were missing, particularly Sándor Juhas and the late Donna Griffin. We want to send best wishes to member Helen Vida; we hope that she will soon be free of the cast on her broken ankle and able to walk normally again. We also send a big hello to our member in Dickson City, Kimberly Tremmel, and her mother. We are glad that you are part of our branch. The Philadelphia Hungarian Club joined with the Duna-Danube Swabian Association Club in a traditional picnic late in August, at the club at 1277 Southampton Road, Philadelphia. This new location is about two blocks east of where the old Philadelphia Hungarian Club was located on Southampton Road. That lovely building has been tom down to make way for several large houses. Our very best wishes go to all those celebrating birthdays, anniversaries, or additions to the family. We also want to congratulate all those starting college or returning to school. Our grandson, Eric Zimmermann is now a freshman at Lehigh University. Here is a message to all students: Make the most of the coming school year; have a good time, but learn as much as you can. Also, do not forget to apply for the WPA scholarships available to those insured students whose parent or grandparent is a member. Don't forget to call Jack Tokár, 215- 357-4516 to discuss insurance or annuities. Branch 249 Dayton, OH by Anna Kertesz Congratulations to the WPA on a very successful 36th General Convention. The National Officers are to be commended for their excellent service during the past four years, and we look forward to their leadership to the future. Special congratulations to Branch 249 member Anne Marie Schmidt, who was elected to the Board of Directors, and to branch member Michele Daley-LaFlame, who was elected as an alternate to the Board. We want to send special thanks to our dear friends Elmer Toth, Anthony Beke, Mike Tomcsak and Frank Radvany, who retired from the Board of Directors, and Joe Hamari, who retired from the National Auditing Committee. We will always remember the integrity and contributions they have given to make the WPA a successful fraternal organization. Thank you to all who helped with our recent cabbage roll sale. We appreciate your support in making this a successful event. The proceeds help us provide fraternal activities to our members and to support the WPA Scholarship Fund.
