The Minutes MINUTES OF THE 36TM­GENERAL CONVENTION OF THE WILLIAM PENN ASSOCIATION HELD AT THE HILTON PITTSBURGH & TOWERS IN PITTSBURGH, PA MONDAY. SEPTEMBER 3. 2007 1. Call to Order. Chairman of the Convention Stephen J. Varga welcomed the delegates to the 36th General Convention and called the Convention to order at 9:00 A.M. Chairman Varga introduced the members seated at the head table. He bid "Isten Hozott" to the delegates and guests. He congratulated the delegates upon their election to participate in this Convention and wished everyone a fruitful Convention. This Convention is called into session in accordance with the Fraternal Insurance Laws of the various jurisdic­tions wherein the Association is licensed to operate as a Fraternal Benefit Society. The supreme governing and legislative body of a Fraternal Association is the General Convention. The state law mandates that a Convention of delegates representing the entire membership convene once every four (4) years to establish rules, laws, regula­tions and guidelines for the ensuing four (4) years. All members of the Convention are expected to be courteous in their speech and conduct. Each speaker will be expected to present his or her views clearly and calmly. Only that delegate, who has been recognized by the presiding Chairman, may speak. Only those matters may be discussed at the Convention which has been included in the Agenda and in accor­dance with the by-laws. Chairman Varga called upon the Chairman of the Sergeant-at-Arms to introduce himself and his committee members: Chairman of Sergeant-at-Arms Committee, Andrew W. McNelis Vice Chairman Ronald S. Balia Richard L. Homyak, Jr., Michael F. Tomcsak and William S. Vasvary 2. Invocation. Reverend Dr. Daniel Borsay from the Free Hungarian Reformed Church, McKeesport, PA offered the invocation. 3. Pledge of Allegiance. Vice Chairman Elmer W. Toth led the assembly in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America. 4. American and Hungarian National Anthems. The assembly sang the American and Hungarian National Anthems led by Evelyn Bodnar and accompanied on the piano by Arlene Miller. 5. Barbara A. House. Chairman of Credentials Com­mittee / Report Submitted. Chairman Varga called upon Barbara A. House, Chairman of the Credentials Committee for the Credentials Committee Report. The Board of Directors, in compliance with Article II, Section 204, Point 1 of the WPA By-Laws, unanimously approved the following as members of the Credentials Committee and Chairman House introduced the members of the Credentials Committee: Barbara A. House, Credentials Committee Chairman Anne Marie Schmidt, Vice Chairman Anthony C. Beke Michele Daley-LaFlame Schorlis J. Gotz Mary Huthansel Robert M. Jones, Jr. Richard W. Toth Carol A. Truesdell The Credentials Committee met on Sunday, September 2,2007, from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. in the Board Room at the Hilton Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, PA. We, the appointed Credentials Committee, hereby certify that (35) Delegate District Chairmen's Reports of Election of Delegates were submitted to National Vice President/Secretary Richard W. Toth and approved. In addition, we, the appointed Credentials Committee, reviewed and verified the Delegates Approval Letters, the Delegates / Ex-Officio Delegates Certification Letters with signed index cards and the (4) official notices published in the William Penn Life. On July 5,2007, National V.P./Secretary Richard W. Toth, was informed that Charlene Kinder of the National Advisory Committee would not be able to attend WPA's 36th General Convention. On August 16,2007, National V.P./Secretary Richard W. Toth was informed that Jennifer M. Nezolosky will not be able to attend WPA's 36th General Convention. Na­tional V.P./Secretary Toth certified First Alternate Donna Varga as Delegate to WPA's 36th General Convention on September 3-4-5,2007 in Pittsburgh, PA. On August 22,2007, National V.P./Secretary Richard W. Toth was informed that Sándor J. Yuhas will not be able to attend WPA's 36th General Convention. National V.P./Secretary Toth certified First Alternate Dorothy H. Kedves as Delegate to WPA's 36th General Convention on September 3-4-5,2007 in Pittsburgh, PA There are seventy (70) elected delegates and twenty-four (24) Ex-Officio Delegates, which consists of three (3) National Officers, twelve (12) National Directors, six (6) National Auditing Committee Members and three (3) National Advisory Committee Members for a grand total of ninety-four (94) Delegates.
