Moneywi$e________________________ with Mark Lantz Why do families need life insurance? A true story. A young lady called me to inquire about life insurance. "I need life insurance for my son", she said. "Yes," I said. "We can help you. How old is your son?" "He's one year old. But, I don't have a lot money", she said. "Okay," I said. "Our youth plan would be a good plan for you: $20,000 renewable term to age 25 for only $25 per year." "That would be fine for him," she replied. The young lady then informed me that she wanted life insurance for herself, also. But, she could not afford it now, as she is a widow. "You sound a little young to be a widow," I mentioned. "How old are you?" "I'm 22 years old," she said. "My husband died last year." "Did your husband have life insurance?" "Oh, yes.," she replied. "He had a $50,000 life insurance policy." "What are you doing with that money?" I asked. "Well," she said, "he never changed the beneficiary, so the $50,000 went to another family member." This young woman really could use the money to help raise her young son. This is a perfect example of how important it is to know the amount and details of all your life insurance certificates. Key Life Insurance Review Questions: • Do you have enough coverage to meet your wishes for your family? • Are the beneficiaries the individuals you want to receive your money if you died today? • Do you understand the various types of insurance? • Do you know how long the money would last in your family's budget? • Who owns the life insurance certificate? Owners control the beneficiary designations. Meet with your WPA sales representative to discuss your life insurance planning today. Or, call Mark Lantz, sales director, at 1-800-848-7366 ext. 134.
