24th Annual Golf Tournament Professional Grade Quicksilver Golf Club, site of numerous pro events, will host this year’s WPA Annual Golf Tournament ARNOLD PALMER. LEE TREVINO. Tom Weiskopf. John Daly. Dave Stockton. You may not be able to play like these great golfers, but you can share something in common with them...if you play in the WPA's 24th Annual Golf Tournament. All these champions-and many other professional golfers--have played the course at the Quickilver Golf Club in Midway, Pa., the same course on which this year's WPA tournament will be played. The course at Quicksilver has played host to the Senior PGA Tour, the Nationwide Tour and the Hooters Tour. Golf Digest has awarded it a 4-star rating. Golf Week Magazine calls it one of the top 15 courses in Pennsylvania and the best public course in the state. It is, by any standard, a true championship course. You can play where the pros play during the WPA's annual golf tournament to be held Saturday, July 21. The 18-hole tournament will once again feature a shotgun start beginning at 8:30 a.m. and be played as a straight scramble to help speed up play. Immediately following the tournament, a delicious barbeque will be held at the golf club. To enter the tournament and reserve your seats for the barbeque, complete the form on the next page and send it to Richard W. Toth at the Home Office by June 22. Be sure you include your check covering tournament fees and barbeque tickets. Accommodations for the weekend will be at the Pittsburgh Airport Marriott. All golfers and guests must make their own room reservations directly with the hotel by calling (412) 788-8800. Fees and Costs The tournament entry fee is $75 for WPA adult life benefit members and $85 for non-members. This fee includes green fees, bag service, locker room service, scoring done by the pro shop, GPS-equipped golf carts and a sandwich and beverage at the turn. Room rates at the Marriott are $89 per night based on double occupancy. All rooms will be reserved on a firstcome/ first-served basis and are subject to availability. Tickets for the barbeque are $25 for adults age 16 and older, $12 for teens ages 13 to 15 and $6 for children ages three to 12. The weekend will begin Friday, July 20, at 7:00 p.m. with a reception at the Marriott. The reception will feature the annual putting contest benefiting the William Penn Fraternal Association Scholarship Foundation. For the putting contest, all participants who sink three consecutive putts in one turn will win a cash prize. Other prizes will be awarded to those making one or two putts. Hole-ln-One Contest Once again, the tournament will feature the fun and exciting Hole-In-One Contests. All eligible members who score a hole-in-one at the designated par-3 hole during tournament play will win a $15,000 cash prize. Any non-member who scores an ace on the designated hole will win $7,500. Plus, cash prizes will be awarded to golfers who score a hole-inone on any of Quicksilver's other par-3 holes during tournament play. On those holes, eligible WPA members will win $5,000, while non-members can take home $2,500. If a hole-in-one is not scored on the $15,000 hole, a special $500 cash prize will be awarded to the eligible member who gets his or her tee shot closest to the pin on that hole. By "eligible member" we mean a golfer who is an adult life benefit member of the William Penn Association by July 1,2007, with at least one year's premiums paid. The weekend's official activities will conclude with the barbeque and a cash bar. The WPA has reserved tee times at Quicksilver for Friday, July 20, between 10:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Green fees for Friday will be $60 per player. To reserve a Friday tee time, call the golf club before May 31 at (724) 796-1811 and mention you are with the William Penn Association.
