I Branch News husband, Bernie. Bernie was a regular at many William Penn Association national golf tournaments and branch functions over the years. His friendly smile and pleasant demeanor will be missed by us all. At our recent meeting, Branch President Ron Balia continued to promote fraternalism in the branch with donations to the WPFA Scholarship Foundation, various charitable causes and involvement in the SARA project. Donations for the SARA project will be accepted through the WPA Foundation. Also, our branch will once again be participating in a Join Hands Day project in conjunction with members of the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America at the Hungarian Reformed Church in Springdale this year. More information will be reported in next month's article. The next branch meeting will be on Thursday, May 11, at 7:30 p.m. at the King's Family Restaurant in New Kensington. Please consider joining us. We are planning our schedule of events for the year, including the annual bacon roast and children's Christmas party and your ideas and suggestions are welcome. Hope to see you there. Happy Mother's Day from all of us at Branch 296. We remember this Memorial Day all of the service men and women who have given the ultimate sacrifice for our nation's freedom. God Bless America. Branch 800 Altoona, PA by Vincent Frank Happy Mother's Day on Sunday, May 14. We ask the good and gracious Lord to pour many blessings on all moms. We ask for comfort in all your times of sorrow and joy in the caring of your families. May all mothers have an enjoyable day. The Rev. George Koharchik, on behalf of St. Dismas Catholic Parish at the State Correctional Institution at Huntingdon, Pa., wishes to extend his thanks to Branch 800 for its generous donations to the work of the Catholic chaplaincy at SCI Huntingdon. "Your continued support of this parish each year means a great deal to the men here who are striving to turn their lives around and find God," Father Koharchik said. "The educational resources and films we are able to obtain with these funds are a great help." "May God bless your organization in all that you do and bring success to your work." Branch 800 meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month, from September through May, at 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Educational Center in Altoona. Your prayers are often requested for and by our members who are ill. These prayers bring those members the strength they need to accept their illness and to trust in Divine Providence to take care of them. So, please, when you pray tonight, remember those members and friends of our branch who are not feeling well. Memorial Day (May 29) is the day to visit the graves of our deceased military heroes. It is our freedom that makes this country great, and it is because of the sacrifices our fallen warriors have made—and the sacrifices our brave men and women serving in our nation's armed forces make today-that we can live in freedom. For all of your life insurance and annuity needs, please call Bob Jones in Altoona at 814-942-2661. Bob is on duty all the time and is eager to help sign up new members and serve the needs of our current members.
